5.8 Grading system Performance of students in respect of a course unit is graded according to the following grading system. A Grade Point Value (GPV) is assigned to each grade as indicated in the Table. When a candidate gets over 50 marks without the minimum requirement for components (Theory 40% and practical 50%), maximum grade given will be C-. 5.8.2 Improving Grades A student who obtains grades of C-, D+, D, or E may (a) follow that course unit again at his/her expense and/or (b) take part in the class room exercises and final examination of that course unit again at his/her own expense in order to improve his/her grade. For this purpose only two more attempts will be given and the maximum grade given will be C. 10
5.9. Award of Degree 7.8.1 Grade Point Average (GPA) During the study period, a student accumulates grade points from various course units offered. From the grade points accumulated, a Grade Point Average (GPA) may be calculated. Any calculated GPA will be rounded to the second decimal place. It will be decided at the end of Fourth year. The award of pass and classes will be based on the GPA and other criteria given below. 5.9.2 Award of General Degree: 5.9.2.1 Criteria for the award The following requirements have to be satisfied for awarding of the B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing, and Bachelor of Pharmacy degree certificate. Earning of 97 credits. Obtaining a GPA >=2.0 Having not more than one course unit with grade C- Having no course unit with grade D+ or less. 5.9.2.2 Degree Awarded The degree awarded to the eligible students who does not qualify to be upgraded to special degree or eligible to upgrade to special degree but requested to obtain general degree in writing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (General) 5.9.3. Eligibility to upgrade to Special Degree Course: All students who score a GPV of 3 or above at the end of the Second Semester Examination of the third year are eligible to be enrolled into special degree course provided he/she has not opted to obtain the general degree. 5.9.4. Award of Special Degree: 5.8.4.1 Criteria for the award The following requirements have to be satisfied for awarding of the B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing, and Bachelor of Pharmacy degree certificate. Earning of 129 credits. Obtaining a GPA >=2.0 Having not more than one course unit with grade C- Having no course unit with grade D+ or less. 5.9.4.2 Degree Awarded The degree awarded to the eligible students: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Special) 12
