Introduction TruPortal access control solutions have been engineered and designed to install quickly and easily right out of the box. These units are ideal for small- to mid-size applications, with a user-friendly Install Wizard feature to assist with each step. We ve made configuring TruPortal solutions simple and efficient for you and intuitive and convenient for your customers. This quick start guide provides easy to follow instructions to get your installation started. For more detailed information, refer to the installation manual included in the kit. STEP 1 Install TruPortal hardware 1.1 Connect RS485 bus between door controllers and main controller RS485 Bus Main Controller Controller There are 4 independent RS485 buses You can use any or all of the four buses (31 2-door add-ons maximum; 8 I/O add-ons maximum; 24 modules per bus maximum). Using multiple buses provides redundancy Maximum distance for each bus is 2000 feet Refer to wiring diagram on panel door for additional details Caution: Do not power 2-door add-ons from the RS485 bus. Only connect A+, B-, and 0V to 2-door add-on. Note: Additional Power Supply required. 1.2 Connect door hardware Main & Controllers Wiring will depend on reader type selected refer to reader documentation for details Optional I/O boards should be wired at this time Refer to main controller or door controller overlays for wiring locations Make note of serial numbers and locations of door controllers (see last page of this guide for template) Make sure to document each device by location & serial number
1.3 Connect network cable to Ethernet Port 1 Left Panel Network Socket Network Cable Connect network wiring to Ethernet Port 1 using standard network cable (no crossover cable required) Connect to network switch or directly to PC 1.4 Power up panel, connect battery and let boot properly + Power Up Connect Battery Boot for 2 3 Minutes Connect AC power cable to AC input terminals Connect to available non-switched AC power source
STEP 2 Configure TruPortal system 2.1 Run Discovery Utility on TruPortal resource CD Insert CD into PC and double-click on Start.hta if CD does not Autorun If necessary, install.net 4 Framework and Bonjour prerequisites Click on Discovery and Installation Wizard icon 2.2 IP Address verification and programming (DHCP to Fixed) Discovery and Installation Wizard will identify attached panels connected to network or PC Alternative connection method: directly connect panel to PC and run Wizard or proceed to Step 3.1 and connect via browser to default IP address of 169.254.1.200 Configure admin password and IP settings (Note: static IP is recommended in most cases)
2.3 Discover the door controllers Discovery and Installation Wizard will identify attached door controllers Confirm each door controller setup in the system configuration by selecting each door controller in the list and clicking Accept Note: controllers must be selected and accepted before settings can be configured. If door controllers do not appear, check power and wiring to the door controller. 2.4 Configure hardware of the door controllers Configuration of door controllers is optional Optionally modify door input supervision settings strike hardware may also be operated to confirm operation
STEP 3 Configure TruPortal software 3.1 Log-in via a browser Navigate to panel IP address configured in Step 2.2 in Web browser Log-in using admin password (Note: Default user for logging in is admin and the password is demo ) Accept any certificate/security warnings presented by browser Read and accept the End User License Agreement 3.2 Add Persons & Credentials From Home screen, click on Add Person. This will launch the Add Person Wizard. Follow Wizard steps Wizard will prompt you to create access levels, schedules and holidays (Suggested: create a master access level with sublevels) Repeat Wizard for additional person(s) (optional)
3.3 Finalize hardware configuration (optional) Provide meaningful/logical device names (recommended) Add video devices to system (Recorders and Cameras); other access control hardware may also be added Enable time synchronization with time server Configure security parameters Note: To finalize hardware configuration, you must be in the System Administration menu. 3.4 Check for firmware updates (optional) This step is optional but suggested to ensure latest firmware is loaded From the navigation menu, click on System Administration, then Firmware Updates

Document the physical location of each device by serial number As each door configuration (locks, sensors, readers) is installed, provide a description for each, and list the serial numbers of devices associated with each door.
