Who are we? The IIE was created as a decentralized organization of the Mexican Government in 1975 Mission: To promote and support innovation trough value-adding applied research and development to increase the competitiveness of Mexico s electric industry. Provide support: in electrical generation, transmission and distribution processes and improvement oil processes.

Organization

Renewable Energy at the IIE Prime Objective: To promote and support the implementation of sustainable technologies for electricity generation through non conventional energies Our department sees itself as main facilitator for the introduction of these technologies in Mexico

Support for Central America and the Caribbean in collaboration with UNEP Resource Assessment PV Systems Wind Power

Resource Assessment Develop timely and reliable information on renewable energy resources to support regional energy planning and implementation. Capabilities: Design, installation, operation and maintenance of networks for monitoring wind, solar, biogas, rivers flow, waves, tides and ocean currents. Conditioning for remote monitoring stations using satellite technology, telephone or radio Estimation of the potential of renewable energy resources, from measurements or modeling Technical and economic analysis of site-specific projects. Development of mapping and renewable energy resources geoportals publication.

Products: Geographical Information System for Renewable Energy Resource Assessment Official Solar and Wind Maps Resource Assessment presented in CoP 16 (Cancún, México) Biomass, Minihydro. Rivers flow, Waves, Tides and Ocean Currents (in Progress) National Laboratory for Assessment of Renewable Energy Resources in Mexico (LERM) Identification of potential areas for the implementation of renewable energy projects. Training.
