NYC Men in Nursing: March Chapter Meeting & Presentation Friday, March 6 6pm 8pm Mount Sinai Hospital, 1470 Madison Avenue between 100 and 101st Streets, CAM Building Room 9-101 (9th floor) (Note: for non-msh guests, please ask the security to let you into the elevator) Creating Your Own Legacy: Scholarship, Leadership, and Compassion Guided by Hines (2014) framework, this topic will focus on creating your own legacy in contributing to and utilization of knowledge (legacy of scholarship), practice changes (legacy of leadership), and other aspects of health care to benefit those who receive nursing care (legacy of compassion). The March for Gender Equality and Women s Rights Sunday, March 8 2:30pm - 5pm Dag Hammarskjold Plaza (47th Street and 2nd Avenue) The March for Gender Equality and Women s Rights is being organized by UN Women in collaboration with the City of New York, NGO-CSW, the Working Group on Girls, the Man Up Campaign and the UN Women for Peace Association. The march will take place on International Women s Day (March 8) and commemorate the 20-year anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. This event will celebrate the achievements women and girls have made around the world since 1995. It will also be an opportunity to underscore the need for political commitment to accelerate action to achieve gender equality by 2030. We will start at the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza (47th street and 2nd avenue) at 2:30 pm and end at Times Square (42nd street and 7th avenue) at 5:00 p.m.

Volunteer and Professional Development Opportunities The College of Nursing is thrilled to offer this leadership opportunity once again to students. This is an important opportunity to become involved in University Governance, as well as to serve as the student voice of the College of Nursing on the Student Senators Council. Those interested in running for the position should read and complete the application no later than Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 11:59PM. Candidates are strongly urged to consider the time commitment to this position, which can be reviewed in the application. Please note the role of a school senator is to represent the voice of their school s student body on the Student Senators Council and on the University Senate. The senator will have the responsibility of bringing issues discussed at the Student and University Senate back to their schools and to their student body. The senator shall attend all University Senate meetings which happen once a month on a Thursday from 2-4; SSC meetings which occur twice monthly from 4-5:30, and University Committee on Student Life (UCSL) meetings, which occur on the first Thursday of every month from 5:30-7. Senators typically hold 2-7 on Thursdays for these commitments. NY Presbyterian Nursing Student Volunteer Opportunity: The Hebrew Tabernacle of Washington Heights is conducting a health fair for the Washington Heights community. The event will take place on Sunday, April 19th, 2015 from 11 am until 2 pm. We are seeking nursing student volunteers to assist with performing blood pressure checks for the elderly. NYUCD/NYUCN Annual Research Days April 23-24, 2015 Participating in our Annual Student Research Days is your chance to share your work with your peers, with your professors, and with the entire NYUCD community. All students of NYU College of Dentistry (DDS students, Post Graduates (all programs), Master of Science (all programs), Dental Hygiene Program, Post-Doctoral students), and students of NYU College of Nursing, who have engaged in a research project under the supervision of a faculty member are invited to share their work. How do you participate? Students should seek the approval of their adviser before registering. Advisers will receive a confirmation email indicating that their students have registered. Submit your abstract online http://www.nyu.edu/dental/ intranet/students/researchday/form and email a copy as a WORD attachment with a.doc or.docx suffix to dental. research@nyu.edu. Projects with multiple co-authors The form is set up so that the lead student author submits the abstract; student co-authors should not submit the abstract. The lead student is responsible for communicating with coauthors, and the lead student will present poster on research day. Abstract Deadline: March 15, 2015 You will need a valid NetID and password to complete this form. The title should be no more than 10 words and the abstract should be between 250-300 words. All authors should be listed and affiliations given.

With the sale of each $4 pair of winter gloves a donation of 100 medical gloves will be funded for West Africa. To date, Gloves4Gloves has raised funds to send 24,000 medical gloves to Sierra Leone. Employment Opportunities NYU Summer Program for Kids: Summertime Opportunity for a Registered Nurse The New York University Child Study Center is seeking a full-time registered nurse for the NYU Summer Program for Kids (SPK). The SPK is an all-day, evidence-based, therapeutic program that provides intensive treatment tailored to meet the behavioral and educational needs of 7-11 year old children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The program is housed on the beautiful campus of The College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, NY and runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, from June 29 through August 14, 2015 Children who are enrolled in our program, are placed in 4 age-similar groups of 12-14, and participate in a variety of recreational and educational activities led by 6-7 counselors, 1 classroom counselor, and 1 teacher, under the supervision of licensed clinical psychologists.
