THE DEGREE PROGRAMME Innvovation & Management in Tourism is an exciting degree programme for future tourism experts who plan to be leading this rapidly growing sector in the areas of hotel and destination management, gastronomy and tourismorganizations, etourism related companies and more. Tourism is a continually growing economic sector which now more than ever requires economic professionalism and a high level of social competencies. In order to succeed in this highly competitive environment, one has to be able to recognize trends, to develop new touristic offers and implement them on the market, online and offline. The strong and dynamic marketplace additionally requires exceptional skills in innovation and usage of (new) media. The management activities and products of touristic enterprises in a regional, national and international environment are marked by intercultural proceedings and networking. The English degree programme has a unique structure which allows for a compact, interdisciplinary course of instruction that cannot be found elsewhere. The direct link between practice and studies allows students to apply their newly-acquired knowledge and innovative ideas directly to the workplace. Master degree in Innovation and Management in Tourism After your BA studies you have the possibility to gain your MA degree at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (SUAS). Your Career You are prepared to take on tasks in middle management as well as to perform assistant functions at the level of departmental head in SMEs or larger enterprises or to take on leadership positions (or by proxy) in small (family) enterprises from the hotel industry to destination management to handling events. THE SPECIALISATION Hospitality Management During your studies, you will learn what innovative hospitality concepts & products really mean and become familiar with the challenges and requirements involved in their development and implementation. You will gain know-how in management tasks involving diverse departments and be able to analyse and evaluate matters in regard to the business administrative aspects of running a hotel. Using tools and methods common to controlling in a process-oriented and cohesive manner resulting in recommendations for further action won t be a problem for you. Destination Management You will be able to recognize trends, new and innovative destination concepts, potentials and prospects for the future. You will become familiar with the requirements and the managerial tasks of the various service providers. Taking advantage of supervision and controlling instruments, you learn to evaluate results and financial ratios, to analyze situations and define new objectives. You will be capable of contributing to the development of new and existing products and a holistic destination strategy and will possess an understanding of service providers challenges. Housing & Studying Urstein Campus The degree programme is located at Urstein Campus close to the city of Salzburg. The attractive building complex was completed in 2005 in green surroundings and in close proximity to the baroque Schloss Urstein and the medieval Meierei. The modern building with its architecturally striking head, which houses the library, provides an ideal setting for your studies. From the S-Bahn station located directly at the campus, you can reach Salzburg s city centre within a very short time.
