MOSCOW INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS AND TECHNOLOGY (STATE UNIVERSITY) INTERNATIONAL MASTER S DEGREE PROGRAMMES PLANETARY SCIENCE
About The programme aims to prepare students for professional careers in planetary science, space engineering, and the development of remote sensing instruments.
Key Advantages Based on an established network of partners in Russian and European space science and industry, this MIPT programme provides focused training that allows graduates to join research and engineering teams of planetary missions worldwide. Our faculty have the unique experience of participating in missions to Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and other Solar System bodies, as well as developing hi-end instruments for future missions. Students graduating from the programme will be well prepared for admission to PhD programmes in planetary science at the world s leading universities.
Teaching Methods The theoretical part of the programme includes the fundamentals of orbital dynamics, planetary geology, physics and chemistry of planetary interiors and atmospheres, including extrasolar planets. Special attention is given to methods and instrumentation in planetary studies, including interplanetary missions and spaceborne astronomy. The programme involves extended practical training and internships at Russia s leading research teams working on planetary missions led by Roskosmos, ESA, NASA, and other space agencies. Students enrolled in our Master s programme will take part in mission planning, instrument design, operations, data processing and interpretation.
