Role of Advisory Council Meet monthly to discuss progress against the program s goals, and the upcoming workshop Solicit and share honest feedback, to better understand the success of the program Provide ideas and suggestions for strengthening the program 2

Which components are most likely to contribute to those goals (e.g., chiefs meetings, workshops, assignments, etc.)? Least likely? 3. Do the modules focus on the right content and skills? Change Management Program Overview (1/2) The goals of the program are twofold: 1) Help all LEAs develop high impact, outcome-focused plans; and 2) Help all LEAs build the skills and capacity to successfully implement their plans The official program will take place from October to March, and the September Chiefs meeting will be used to provide an overview of the program The program will consist of six month-long modules ; each module will focus on a content area and a skill area, and include the following: Pre-reading Chief meeting Knowledge transfer Visit County workshop Assignment [See the following page for detail on each of these components] 5
Change Management Program Overview (2/2) Component Pre-reading Description LEA planning teams will be provided with short readings on the module s content and skill area, which will include theory and case studies Chief meeting Knowledge transfer Visit County Workshop Assignment LEA chiefs and 1-2 change agents of their choosing will participate in a 3-hour meeting, with presentations and activities related to the content and skill area [DDOE staff will work with experts to prepare and facilitate these meetings, which will be previewed with the Advisory Council and DDOE leadership team] Chiefs will work with their planning teams to review what they learned in preparation for the county workshop [DDOE will provide materials to support this work] LEA planning teams will visit a school/district that is successfully implementing the best practices, or personnel who have experience with the practices will come to DE [all visits will not be required for all planning team members e.g., 1-2 members will be required at each visit, and each member must complete 3 visits] LEA planning teams will convene by county for a 3-hour planning workshop, to continue learning about the content area and skill, to complete the assignment (below), and to collaborate with other LEAs [DDOE staff will work with experts and LEA staff to develop and facilitate the workshops] LEA planning teams will produce the portion of their plan related to the month s module, and complete other assignments related to the skill learned; DDOE will provide support to individual LEAs as needed/requested, review each LEA s revised plan, and provide feedback that highlights issues and gives clear suggestions [LEAs will incorporate feedback and re-submit at their discretion] 6
