Lake-Sumter State College Course Syllabus Course / Prefix Number CTS1832 Course Title: Web Authoring II CRN: 10009 Credit: 3 Term: Fall 2015 This course is a continuation of skills and concepts introduced in CTS 1831. The course covers web page development including HTML forms, frames and Course Catalog cascading style sheets, Javascript, and VBScript. Simplifying web site Description: maintenance will be a focus. Transferring of information between client and server is covered, including forms, cookies and queries. If you do not have a computer that meets these requirements, LSSC computer labs in our campus Libraries and Learning Centers provide all of the necessary programs needed to complete the work for this course. Technology and Online Computer Access Requirements: Course Objectives: (what the course will do) It is the student s responsibility to have an alternative plan if their main computer system fails or encounters technical issues that prevent the completion of required assignments by the specified due date (i.e. complete work on-site at a campus library or learning center, have a secondary computer available, etc.). Computer hardware, software and/or printer problems are not acceptable excuses for incomplete or late assignments. This course requires a computer system, which meets the minimum specifications for BLACKBOARD access. Blackboard is an online class management system where you will access course related materials such as lectures, videos, quizzes, tests, etc. Please visit http://www.lssc.edu/dl to make certain your computer system meets the minimum requirements for BLACKBOARD. This course is designed to enable the student to develop familiarity with and confidence in the use of HTML 5 web coding, and to enable the student to use proper tag HTML 5 coding to solve problems. Good problem solving, Web Authoring design, and presentation techniques will be discussed and modeled. 1

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) Assessed in this Course: (what the students take with them beyond this course) Academic Integrity: Important Information for Students with Disabilities: Privacy Policy (FERPA): Attendance / Withdrawal Policies: The student Supports knowledge of the basic web design concepts, features, and HTML conventions offered in Web Authoring I. Uses a versatile and visual editor to create forms and tables. Creates web interfaces with client-side technologies and popular web authoring tools. Constructs web pages with emerging and existing technologies, such as XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP. Learns advanced techniques for producing static and dynamic web pages. Publishes their work to a simulated or live web server using the latest Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) technologies. Recognizes topics to include advanced web page design, site administration, templates, scripting, application building and CSS layering. The successful functioning of the academic community demands honesty, which is the basis of respect for both ideas and persons. In the academic community, there is an ongoing assumption of academic integrity at all levels. There is the expectation that work will be independently thoughtful and responsible as to its sources of information and inspiration. Honesty is an appropriate consideration in other ways as well, including but not limited to the responsible use of library resources, responsible conduct in examinations, and the responsible use of the Internet. Students who cooperate on assessments without authorization share the responsibility for violation of academic principles and are subject to disciplinary action. Punctuality, attendance and class participation are essential for success. Students are responsible for ALL materials discussed in class. If you are late or absent, it is YOUR responsibility to obtain class notes, handouts and lab assignments. If you wish to withdraw from the course, you must go to the Admissions Office and submit the formal course withdrawal form by the withdrawal deadline.
