Export Promotion Mandate (CHF 17 million p.a.) To provide Swiss SMEs with support that complements their own private initiatives to identify and realize sales opportunities, and to position Swiss exporters internationally as competitive providers To provide information on foreign markets To provide a high-performance Internet platform for the export industry, incl. a pool of experts Basic consulting: to assist businesses in assessing their export capabilities and disseminate specific information on export markets Detailed consulting: to assist businesses with their export projects and alert them to market potential abroad To advertise Swiss products and services abroad (e.g. at trade fairs)

Location Promotion Mandate (CHF 3.4 million p.a.) To implement measures that serve to promote Switzerland as a business location and encourage foreign businesses to set up in Switzerland Measures to promote dissemination of information on Switzerland as a business location Measures to encourage foreign businesses to set up in Switzerland Measures to coordinate location promotion efforts with the cantons and other partners

Import Promotion Mandate (CHF 6 million p.a.) To promote market access for SME products suitable for export from seco's priority countries to Switzerland and European markets, and to increase the competitiveness of production in these countries To inform exporters (SMEs) about markets in the EU and Switzerland To build trade relations between exporters and importers and introduce them to one another To provide practical, industry-specific marketing and product advice for SMEs in developing countries To disseminate information among importers in the EU and Switzerland

Investment Promotion Mandate (max CHF 1.5 million*) To promote investment in selected developing countries and to promote the priority countries as attractive locations for foreign direct investment by providing support as countries establish efficient location promotion agencies locally To bolster location promotion expertise in the target countries by providing technical assistance To monitor the provision of technical assistance locally To disseminate information in Switzerland on the potential, the conditions and the opportunities for investment To identify potential investors in Switzerland * Total for the 3-year period
