2 Commissioner Marilyn Brown President, Board of Commissioners Franklin County, Ohio Marilyn Brown has been elected to serve as Commissioner in 2006, 2010, and Prior to elected office, Marilyn had compiled extensive experience in public service in two major areas - economic development and social justice. As Commissioner, Marilyn focuses on those same two fronts, realizing that economic development, good jobs, and workforce readiness, coupled with a strong safety net, a solid foundation for our kids, and a high quality of life for all residents were the cornerstones on which the County was built, and on which it continues to grow. Marilyn is taking an active leadership role in the planning of the County s new Public Safety Center. She recognizes the importance of community enrichment especially the arts. Marilyn was re-elected to a second term on the board of the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) in She was named as one of the 25 Most Influential by Shadowbox Live in On issues of human rights and equality, Marilyn carries her family's long tradition of Tikkun Olam, or Repairing The World, with her as she works on behalf of women's rights, diversity and inclusion for all people, and open and accessible access to education, housing, and government. She is a vocal advocate for social justice and progressive issues. She serves on the Board of Directors of The Center for Family Safety & Healing and on the advisory council of CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence, and is a leader against family violence in all its forms. Marilyn holds a masters' degree in organizational development from Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.

Interested in learning about the jail system and civic infrastructure in Brazil. Additionally, making connections for the travel group in Brazil. Master of Arts from Washington University and Bachelor or Arts from Franklin College.

4 Mr. Erik Joseph Janas Deputy County Administrator Franklin County, Ohio Oversees the Economic Development & Planning Department, the Office on Aging and the Department of Animal Care & Control. Previous experience at the Office of the Mayor City of Columbus, and various positions with the City of Cleveland, and Cuyahoga County. Interested in business connections, cultural and educational exchange between the County and Brazil and to learn about civic infrastructure. Master s in Public Administration from Cleveland State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Dayton.

5 Mr. Tim Sword President Greater Columbus Sister Cities International Started with Sister Cities in December 2014, extensive experience with Ohio Development Services Agency and Department of Agriculture. Adjunct Professor of International Business at Ohio State Fisher College of Business. Interested in unearthing collaboration opportunities with the business, socio-cultural, and education communities in Columbus and Curitiba. Bachelor s degree in Agricultural Economics from The Ohio State University.

6 Dr. Miguel Martinez-Saenz Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Otterbein University With Otterbein since June 2014; past experience at St. Cloud State University and Wittenberg University. Interested in partnering with Brazilian companies for internship, training opportunities for Otterbein students and faculty in the fields of Systems Engineering, Business, Accounting, Economics and Business Analytics. Master s and doctorate degrees in philosophy from the University of South Florida.

7 Mr. Thomas Michael Gattis Dean, School of Design Arts Columbus College of Art and Design Joined CCAD in 2012 and formerly at Savannah College of Art and Design. Looking to connect with Brazilian schools that might be interested in sending students to CCAD for study. Member of the Industrial Designers Society of America, the American Craft Council, and the American Association of Woodturners. Bachelor s degree in industrial design from Auburn University and Master s degree in industrial technology education from Bemidji State University.

8 Mr. Richard Thomas Coplin Vice President, Community Partner Ventures Rev1ventures Hands-on mentor in commercialization strategies, as well as, author of Pitch Your Best! Interested in meeting with Brazilian companies and entrepreneurs to unearth collaboration opportunities. Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Denison University and Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University.

9 Ms. Kessia C. Cericola Attorney Dahman Law A Brazilian national, Kessia is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Her practice area includes business law, with a focus on immigration and international business transactions licensed to practice law in the Ohio and Brazil. Kessia holds a law degree from Faculdade de Direito de São Bernardo do Campo and an LL.M. from The Ohio State University.

Since 1997 the CGLG Brazil Trade Office has assisted Market Entry firms from Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Wisconsin to identify and benefit from business opportunities in a diverse range of industries.
