This invaluable experience has afforded me the opportunity to share with students the essential skills, knowledge and employability skills essential for a rewarding career in retail management. Andrew Lewis Senior Lecturer in Retail Operations After working in the marketing research and business consultancy industry, I started my journey at MMU as a Postgraduate student in I am now a Senior Lecturer in International Marketing and involved in various academic projects in the UK and overseas. My experience of consultancy, teaching and research spans three decades, five continents and has been supported by the British Fashion Council, UK Government, leading fashion retailers, brands and global manufacturers. In this time, I have trained and educated future fashion and retail industry leaders to develop ethical, sustainable and innovative fashion markets. I joined the Department in 1992 and led the Retail Management Development Programme, which provided postgraduate courses for over 700 managers from major UK retailers, for 10 years. This provided valuable insights into the link between theory and practice. My current retail interests are in two broad areas. The first is how organisations operate in the US retail marketplace which is the world s largest and most diverse. This has involved interviews and visits to Wal-Mart, Macy s, and more specialist retailers in the convenience, pet food and thrift-shop sectors. My second is how the rapid increase of smartphones has radically altered consumer buying behaviour which presents both opportunities and challenges for retailers. David Leaver Senior Lecturer in Brand Management I joined MMU in 2011 as Senior Lecturer in Consumer Marketing and teach on a number of Marketing and Retail units. Prior to joining the Department I worked in senior management within Retail for nearly twenty years. My background therefore helps me approach retailing issues from both a practical and theoretical viewpoint. I have a particular interest in branding and have published within leading journals, as well having spoken at various national and international conferences on the subject. Dr Griff Round Senior Lecturer I teach and lead the Consumer Behaviour unit, contributing original case material based on my academic and commercial experiences.
