A degree in accounting is a solid foundation for almost any career, and is broad enough to prepare students for transfer to a bachelor s degree program. Because SFCC courses are patterned after lower-division courses at universities, AA students earn required general education credits as well as basic skills in financial accounting principles, payroll accounting, income tax preparation, financial and investment analysis and more. in Accounting: Accounts Payable Clerk Billing Clerk Bookkeeper Payroll Clerk

Business administration (AA/AAS) SFCC business administration programs are designed to give you basic skills or sharpen the skills you already have in accounting, marketing, business law, management and office technology. Concentrations are flexible, so you can take specific courses in your area of interest. Because SFCC courses are patterned after lowerdivision courses at universities, AA students earn required general education credits as well as basic skills in business, human relations, marketing, finance and more. in Business Administration Account executive Administrator/manager in a variety of fields including: Education Government Health/Hospital Hotel/Hospitality Criminal Justice (AA/AAS) Criminal investigation (Certificate) Community safety and justice are at the heart of these programs. Learn about forensic science, criminal investigation, profiling and more. The AA degree prepares you for work in criminal justice. transfer to a four-year school or to earn credit toward a degree at state law enforcement academies. The AAS degree prepares you for work in the field, with concentrations in law enforcement supervision and crime scene investigation. 6 Culinary arts (AAS/Certificate) The SFCC culinary arts program is a hands-on professional career prep program. Our Culinary Arts Institute delivers world-class instruction in the 12 areas of general knowledge recommended by the American Culinary Federation: basic baking, beverage management, business and math skills, dining room service, food preparation, human relations management, introduction to the hospitality industry, menu planning, nutrition, purchasing and receiving and sanitation and safety. in Culinary Arts Sous Chef Saucier Pastry Chef or Patissier Personal Chef
7 you are... a Self-Starter You are both motivating and motivational. early Childhood education (AA/AAS) The early childhood stage of education covers birth through third grade, and includes communication and interaction with the children s families. The number of jobs available to early childhood educators is expected to increase over the next 10 years. The AA degree coursework is designed to transfer to a bachelor s program at a college or university. The AAS degree prepares you for entry-level positions in the fields that do not require state licensure. Some career opportunities with an AAS in Early Childhood Education Teacher in an early education setting (0-5yr) Educational Assistant entrepreneurship (Certificate) If you ve thought about starting your own business but aren t sure how to launch a successful endeavor, SFCC can provide you with the basics. Our four-course online certificate program will give current and future entrepreneurs experience in planning a new business from concept identification to completion of a business plan. You ll learn about opportunity recognition, market research, organizational structure, management practices, recordkeeping, franchising, global business practices and e-commerce.
8 Film (AAS) New Mexico has a growing film industry as well as a creative population interested in communication and self-expression. An AAS from SFCC gives you the experience you need to become a filmmaker or enter the film industry in any number of production positions. You can choose between two concentrations: film studies or film production and documentary filmmaking. Students in the film studies concentration learn film and media theory as well as international film history. Career opportunities include writing, criticism, film festival production and theatrical distribution. Students in the film production or documentary concentration acquire the aesthetic and technical skills they need to work as independent filmmakers or as part of a team in the film industry. Classes and electives are flexible, allowing you to focus your education in a specific area of interest, including journalism, narrative or experimental filmmaking, business and entrepreneurship, animation, audio and more. in Film Media Manager Assistant Editor Film Production Assistant in areas including grip, electrical, art, special effects, craft service, production coordinating, assistant directing, and assistant producing Independent Producer/Director
9 you are innovative You are the original out of the box thinker. Film Crew (Certificate) Get involved in New Mexico s ever growing media industry by learning about current film industry opportunities, workforce standards and internship opportunities. Students learn aspects of digital filmmaking from pre- to postproduction. You ll work with local filmmakers to gain hands-on experience to create your own movies or seek employment in the many film industry jobs statewide. general Studies (AAS) If you re interested in advancing your education but don t have a career or specialization in mind, the general studies program will provide you with a broad yet flexible foundation. You will develop critical thinking skills, which are important to all career fields and all educational endeavors. If you have a course of study in mind but do not see it among our majors, a degree in general studies can be shaped around a field of interest.
10 legal Studies (AA) With your associate degree in legal studies you will be ready to work sideby-side with attorneys in a variety of settings. SFCC s legal studies program is also great preparation for transfer into a bachelor s degree program in pre-law studies at a four-year institution. At SFCC, you ll take general education classes and basic core courses to prepare you for exciting work in the field of law. in Legal Studies Paralegal Legal Assistant Legal Secretary

Involved You care about supporting the needs of employers and your community. media arts (AA/AAS/Certificate) Media arts is for people interested in combining art, design and technology. You ll get the basics of a digital arts education plus direct experience with leading industry software and hardware and interaction with digital media professionals. Update your current skills or gain the knowledge and expertise to produce print and digital materials. in Media Arts Graphic and Multimedia Designer Web Page and Social Media Designer Electronic Music Producer E-publishing Developer and Designer office management (Certificate) In this program, you ll learn general office management skills in supervision, accounting, communications, computer technology and general business office procedures. Concentrations are available in dental, medical, law or general office management. in Office Management Dental, Law or Medical Office Manager Executive Assistant Human Resources Real Estate Assistant
12 Paralegal (AAS/Certificate) As a paralegal, you can work in a law firm, government agency or corporation or with advocacy groups that help underserved and marginalized populations. The twoyear AAS degree program will get you ready to work side-by-side with lawyers in a variety of settings. The certificate program is designed to prepare you for work after just one year of concentrated study. You ll be eligible to work under the direct supervision of a licensed attorney and assist in many aspects of the litigation process. in Paralegal Studies Paralegal Legal Assistant Legal Secretary Patissier (Certificate) With a certificate in patisserie, you can confidently create a modern repertoire of pastries, cakes, candies and ices, and master the techniques needed to work as a pastry chef in any kitchen. Police Supervision (Certificate) This certificate provides certified police officers with coursework to develop the supervisory skills they need for promotion within the police department. All certificate coursework can be applied toward an AAS in criminal justice at SFCC.

Dedicated You re ready to commit yourself to a larger purpose. teacher education (AA) An AA degree in teacher education prepares you for transfer to a college or university to earn a bachelor s degree in elementary, secondary or special education. SFCC courses are based on lower-division courses at universities, so you ll earn required general education credits as well as core requirements. alternative teacher licensure (Certificate) Many teachers were professionals in other careers before choosing to switch to education. Whether you were a biologist, business owner, actor or carpenter, you can bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the classroom and make a difference in children s lives. If you already have a bachelor s degree, teacher certification allows you to earn teaching licensure without having to earn another degree. This program prepares you to take state exams and acquire level-one teaching licensure in New Mexico. Bilingual education endorsement (Certificate) Bilingual education teachers are in demand in New Mexico. The SFCC bilingual endorsement is a program that allows New Mexico teachers to add the bilingual endorsement to their teaching licenses. teaching english to Speakers of other languages (tesol) endorsement (Certificate) The TESOL endorsement offers the necessary knowledge, skills, attitude and awareness to support the language development and academic achievement of English language learners. The program is aligned with the New Mexico Public Education Department s TESOL competency requirements.
