Summary of Thesis The purpose of this study was to develop relevant and feasible guidelines for the transition care of Cystic Fibrosis children in Ireland based on the perspectives of the transition service stakeholders themselves. A sequential exploratory mixed method design was used to explore perspective and agree guidelines The contribution the work performed makes to knowledge and scholarship. This study forms a distinct and important contribution to knowledge in a

2 neglected area of research the transitional care of adolescent cystic fibrosis patients from child to adult health care services. The guidelines to improve transition services will provide much needed guidance to health professionals working in this area and should result in improved care for adolescents with cystic fibrosis. This work also has implications for health professionals working with adolescents with other chronic illnesses. The contribution to current practice: The results of this research study have been adopted by the Irish Hospice foundation. The foundation will support the dissemination of these results to the relevant clinical settings to make sure it is applied to relevant population.
