Nomination letter from the community college president (HCC students do not need to request; it will be included for student if nominated) 2. Scholarship Application 3. Personal Statement of the student s educational and career goals 4. Official copy of the community college transcript (HCC students do not need to request; it will be included for student) 5. Unofficial copies or grade slips from all other colleges and universities attended 6. Résumé or listing of the student s extracurricular and community activities 7. Evidence of the student s scholarly and creative activities limit of two items (can include scanned copies of artwork, photos, creative projects, research papers, published material, honors, awards, etc.) 8. One or two letters of recommendation from faculty or staff members at the community college 9. Please do not submit the application items in folders or binders - staples or clips are permitted. Please note: 1. Preference will be given to Maryland residents during the scholarship selection process. 2. Students must submit the FAFSA in order to be considered for any of the Kelly Regents Scholarships or Grants. 3. Items with the student s personal information should be sent by more secure means such as fax, direct mailing or Electronic Transcript. 4. Other documentation -- such as letters of nomination, scholarly/creative evidence, or recommendations -- may be sent by fax or by with attachments. 2 Kelly Regents Scholarships The Regents Scholars Program is the most prestigious scholarship awarded in the University System of Maryland. The scholarship awards cover the entire cost of in-state tuition, mandatory fees, on-campus room and board as well as providing a stipend to defray other academic expenses. Regents Scholars are selected on the basis of demonstrated academic ability. Strong motivation, exceptional character and a record of extracurricular accomplishments are also factors in the selection process. Preference will be given to Maryland residents. The Kelly Regents Scholarships for Transfer Students may be awarded to Maryland community college transfer students who have completed a minimum of 56 credits with a 3.8 or higher Grade Point Average and have demonstrated financial need. The Weinberg Regents Scholarships for Part-Time Students cover the cost of in-state tuition and mandatory fees for 18 semester credits per year (maximum) as well as providing a modest stipend to defray other academic expenses. Regents Scholars are selected on the basis of demonstrated academic ability. Strong motivation, exceptional character and a record of extracurricular accomplishments are also factors in the selection process. Preference will be given to Maryland residents. The Weinberg Regents Scholarships for Part-Time Students are generally awarded to Maryland community college transfer students who have received the Associate s degree with a 4.0 Grade Point Average.
