3 Who We Are is a non-profit dedicated to advancing quality early childhood education across Colorado.

4 What is T.E.A.C.H.? T: Teacher E: Education A: And C: Compensation H: Helps Early Childhood T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood is a unique college scholarship program for child care professionals that is administered in Colorado by Qualistar Colorado.

Facts (cont d) A proven, nationally recognized strategy: T.E.A.C.H. operates in 22 states and the District of Columbia Licensed and monitored by Child Care Services Association in North Carolina Nationally T.E.A.C.H. is celebrating its 25 th year T.E.A.C.H. has been in Colorado since 1997

7 Who is Eligible? Colorado child care professionals who: Are pursuing a certificate, credential or undergraduate degree in early childhood from a participating Colorado public college Work in a licensed child care setting(center, preschool or family child care home) Work at least 30 hours a week (20 hours for applicants working towards Early Childhood Teacher Qualifications)

8 Who is Eligible? (cont d) Colorado child care professionals who: are earning $17/hour or less or $25/hour or less for Directors have been with their current licensed program for at least 90 days or have had a licensed family child care home for one year have the commitment from their center to support the scholarship

9 Scholarship Models

10 Licensing Model Designed for applicants wishing to take ECE classes in order to fulfill licensing or credential requirements. Offers 3-9 credits to be completed in one year. Recipient must receive a C or better in each class.

11 Associate Model Designed for applicants who are pursuing an Associate s Degree in Early Childhood Education or those applicants who wish to take more than 9 credits of ECE classes in a year. Offers 9-18 credits to be completed in one year Requires recipient to receive a C or better in each class Applicant must apply for FASFA

12 Bachelor Model This scholarship is designed for applicants that are pursuing a Bachelor s Degree in ECE and/or ECE licensure Available for juniors or seniors only Offers 9-18 credits to be completed in one year Requires a minimum of 9 credits be completed within one year Recipient must receive a C or better in each class Applicant must apply for FASFA

13 Tuition payments 90% T.E.A.C.H. 5% Center 5% Employee

14 Expenses Covers 90% of cost for Books or approved related expenses (up to $35 per credit) Provides $75 stipend for travel or internet.

15 Work Commitment Licensing Model 6 months of continued employment at current child care program after completion of classes Associate s and Bachelor s Models 12 months of continued employment at current child care program after completion of classes

16 Paid Release Time T.E.A.C.H. pays $6 an hour for up to 2 hours a week for release time to allow recipients time to attend class or study The center or home is responsible for covering the remaining cost of the release time

17 Compensation Licensing Model $75 bonus from T.E.A.C.H. after coursework, $75 bonus or 2% pay raise from the center after work commitment Associate s and Bachelor s Models $300 bonus from T.E.A.C.H. after coursework, $325 bonus or 2% pay raise from center after work commitment
