1 ARTICULATION & TRANSFER AGREEMENT between The Colorado Community College System Aims Community College Colorado Mountain College and The Colorado community colleges and agree to the following policies and conditions governing the transfer of credit earned in the AA and AS at Colorado community colleges into a baccalaureate offered at. The principles, policies and guidelines in this transfer guide shall apply uniformly to all students attempting to transfer credit earned at Colorado community colleges into. For the purposes of this document, an AA or AS degree is defined as a two-year degree program of 60 credits, divided between the core curriculum and electives. This transfer agreement shall be published by the participating university and will determine the decisions made in regard to the transfer of credit. Section I: ADMISSIONS CRITERIA & PROCEDURES A. The admission standards of the institution including the grade point average required for admission. Students seeking admission to must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) for all college work attempted. All course work submitted for evaluation must be presented on an official transcript. Admission to some undergraduate programs is competitive. While all students who have achieved a 2.0 GPA will be fully considered, may offer admission to students based on their relative ranking. B. Treatment of associate degrees as admission criteria. Community college students who have completed an Associate Degree, who have been awarded such a degree, and who have maintained a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and a 2.0 GPA in all transferable courses shall be fully considered for Articulation & Transfer Agreement Page 1
2 admission into the baccalaureate programs offered by. If the students are offered admission, the student will enter with junior standing. Students who have not earned a degree will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis. C. Application procedures and deadlines. The office of admissions at has established application procedures and deadlines. A student should contact the office of admissions for details or consult the individual catalog. Section II: Transfer of Credit A. Policies for accepting grades in transfer. The letter grades on courses from the transferring institution that are accepted for transfer into a baccalaureate program will be treated in accordance with Northcentral University's grade policies. B. Treatment of advanced placement and national, standardized test scores (i.e. DANTES, ECE, APP, CLEP) scores, and other non-traditional methods of awarding credit. 1. Courses that are developmental are not transferable toward a four-year degree. 2. Students who have earned scores on Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) tests offered in high school may be awarded college credit. College credit granted will be recorded on a student's transcript in accordance with the Colorado community college grade policy, but in all cases will count toward graduation at. 3. Students may earn college/university credit by examination in the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) in general education subject areas in which they have demonstrated college-level proficiency and by other nontraditional means. Credit already transcripted by a Colorado community college is transferable as appropriate with other transferability requirements. C. Maximum number of hours accepted in transfer. Sixty credit hours will count toward graduation from and Colorado community college graduates are guaranteed to finish their baccalaureate degree in another 60 hours. 3 D. Residency and upper division course credit requirements. In order to meet graduation requirements for an undergraduate degree, students must complete at least 30 of the required upper division credits (course number 1000 or above) at. E. Treatment of the AA and AS degree in awarding credit. For the purposes of this document, an AA or AS degree is defined as a two-year degree program of 60 credit hours with of these in the core curriculum and the remainder in approved electives. Students who have earned a degree will be credited with the total number of credit hours for all courses that were completed provided that the total number of credits does not exceed the maximum number of hours accepted in transfer. G. Maximum age of credit. will accept all credits earned within ten years of transfer. If a student earned credit hours that were required for graduation not more than ten years prior to transferring into an undergraduate degree program, these credit hours shall apply to the completion of the student's graduation requirements. Courses earned more than ten years earlier will be evaluated on an individual basis. H. Treatment of community college core curriculum. Community college students who completed the Colorado community college core curriculum are considered to have satisfied the 's lower division general education requirements. This condition applies to all community college transfer students regardless of whether they completed a degree. I. Accreditation requirements for transfer of credit. This transfer credit is guaranteed only under the condition that the transferring institution maintains current accreditation by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Section III: Degree/Program Requirements Catalog that governs the transfer student's experience and expiration dates. Students transferring into a baccalaureate program may follow the graduation requirements in effect at specified in the catalog during the academic year the student is officially matriculated into the community college, provided that: 1. the student maintains continuous registration at the community college; Articulation & Transfer Agreement Page 3
4 2. the student matriculates at within one (1) year from the last registration date at a community college. If the student does not meet all the conditions listed above, the student shall follow the current catalog policy of in effect on the date of registration. Section IV: Appeals Process The student has the opportunity to appeal transfer problems through the published appeals process. The college catalog of Northcentral University describes the full appeals process. Section V: OBLIGATIONS OF NORTHCENTRAL UNIVERSITY will provide academic advising to Colorado Community College students. Additionally, NCU will provide materials, catalogs, and other information to Colorado Community College advisors to facilitate their understanding of university requirements and academic programs. Section VI: JOINT OBLIGATIONS Colorado Community Colleges and agree to exchange data and documents that will contribute to the maintenance and improvement of these transfer arrangements, and promote effective cooperation between the institutions. intends to promote the Agreement by listing Colorado Community College System as a partner school on the Northcentral web site and will publish a special landing page to facilitate access by applicants from Colorado Community Colleges, such as: The following Priority Code, CCCS, will automatically identify the applicants as coming from Colorado Community Colleges and thereby entitle them to receive tuition scholarships (graduates, faculty, staff and administration) in the amount of 10% of the tuition, but not to exceed $2,000 scholarship for the entire degree program. The 10% is to be applied to each semester s tuition until the maximum is reached. has reduced the application fee to $50.00 for Colorado Community College students who have earned an Associate Degree from Colorado Community Colleges. Faculty, staff and administration have the same reduced application fee of $50.00, (the normal application fee is $100.00). This agreement will remain in force until such time as the curriculum of a degree program changes or other admissions practices change or the two-year colleges or four-year college Articulation & Transfer Agreement Page 4
