3 => Before beginning with the 1.4 version Delete the last version of your GOLDENEAGLE HD application. Go to the download page of the embedded website and download the new application by clicking on Application portal for GOLDENEAGLE HD. Launch the application. The first time you run it select Remove in the InstallShield Wizard to remove the old version from your PC Finish and then run the application a second time to install the new version 1.4 of the application. 4 NEW FEATURES IN GE HD SOFTWARE V 1.4 The new version of the operating software for the Audemat-Aztec Goldeneagle HD (V 1.4.0, released february 2006) contains many new features and capabilities. The new software is much more flexible and incorporates many enhancements that are based on requests and suggestions from GE HD users. This document will briefly describe the new features, for complete information on the new features and using all of the Goldeneagles capabilities, please refer to the complete users manual, available from the embedded website of the unit or from 1. THE NEW JAVA APPLICATION Once the new operating software has been successfully installed in the Goldeneagle HD, it is necessary to download the new Java application for your PC ( 1.5 version) see page 2, to use the new features. If you are a current GE HD user, you will recognize most of the features on the new software immediately. You might also notice some new items, and the new software has a slightly different appearance. 1.1 GENERAL The user can now access the different areas of the software via the traditional buttons, or by using the pulldown menus. The view and what toolbars are being displayed are also configurable. Page 4/17

5 One notable change is the simplification of the selection of what part or parts of a signal are to be monitored. Where the old software had a series of checkboxes, the new software has only three analog, HD and RDS. Simply check the boxes for the parts of the signal to be continuously checked. 1.2 OPTIONS TIMEOUTS AND MAINTENANCE MODE There is another new page in the Java appli software, in the File menu you can now select Options, which brings up this page: These settings allow the user to configure the screensaver time out on the front panel touch screen and the real time measurement / audio streaming timeout (previously fixed at 15 minutes). The user can also set and enable a Maintenance mode which will temporarily disable alarms and relay functions when doing maintenance at a transmitter site. 1.3 MOVABLE TOOLBARS There is now some flexibility in where the standard tool bars are placed. Simply by clicking and dragging the handle, the user can move the tool bars from their default location at the top of the page to a position on the side or even the bottom margin of the page: Page 5/17

NEW FUNCTIONS AND FEATURES MONITORING PERIOD 2.1 CONFIGURATION PAGES A new section on the Basic Configuration tab for each channel visibly indicates a major new feature the Monitoring Period selection of the hours of monitoring. Originating from a user request, this feature allows you to tell the GE HD to monitor a certain channel only during certain hours of the day. This is useful for AM stations that must disable their HD signals at night, or stations that operate at different power levels at different times of the day. NOTE: If the Enable box is left unchecked, the GE HD will by default, measure the configured channel continuously. You only need to enable the Monitoring Period feature if you do NOT want to monitor the channel 24 hours a day. ALIGNMENT MONITORING A new tab in the Configuration page lets the user schedule automatic time and level alignment measurements and trigger an alarm if the measurements exceed the desired thresholds. 7 N.R.S.C. MASK MONITORING A new tab in the Configuration page allows access to the Spectrum Analyzer and enables the user to set the reference level for the N.R.S.C. IBOC mask. Further, the user can schedule regular checks of the monitored signal and trigger alarms if the signal exceeds the limits of the mask. This feature is available for AM IBOC as well Page 7/17

8 2.2 MONITORING PAGES Another new button in the application called Monitoring allows access to two more new features of the 1.4 software for the Goldeneagle HD. MARKET SCAN MONITORING Configures the unit to repeat the RF scan of the FM band on a regular basis and alert the user if there are any changes in the RF level measured that exceed the threshold set on the page. RECORDING Lets the user schedule automatic recording of analog or HD audio (any HD channel) from any frequency at any time of the day. The resulting audio files are stored on the hard drive and can be retrieved via FTP with a specific login and password. Page 8/17

9 2.3 STATUS PAGES ALARMS The previous Alarms page is now under the Status button, and it now has the same look as the touch screen alarms: EVENT LOG Now there is also limited access to the Event Log via the Java Appli (Note: The Event Log on the embedded website is more complete). Page 9/17

10 ARCHIVED READINGS 2.4 READINGS PAGES A new feature in the Readings page is the addition of a drop-down calendar menu that allows viewing of archived readings from previous days, in addition to the current day and current hour readings. Any readings displayed in the chart can be exported with the Export to CSV button. FM ANALOG SCAN Displays the analog scan of the market, the blue bars indicate the stations configured in the monitoring list. Minimum, maximum, current and reference scans can be displayed. 11 STICKY FREQUENCY 2.5 REALTIME PAGES This enhancement to the Realtime capability of the Goldeneagle HD means that once a frequency is entered and used for one of the real time functions; that frequency will automatically appear for all of the other real time functions until the user enters a new frequency. MODULATION MONITORING The modulation monitoring capability introduced with V 1.3 has grown to two screens now, the first screen tracks the overall modulation parameters Composite (MPX), Pilot and RDS injection, and modulation of 67 and 92 khz SCAs (New Feature!). 12 AUDIO MONITORING The second Modulation page measures all the audio modulation, (analog MPX, L, R, L+R, L-R, HD) and includes some new features. One new feature is the addition of a peak flasher and counter. The flasher is triggered on peaks of the Total composite (MPX) modulation. To enhance these measurements, the user can configure certain parameters that affect the indications of the peak flasher. These include peak weighting (set in cycles of a 10 khz tone, this allows the flasher to ignore short peaks of overmodulation considered to be transients). Also peak filtering, which allows multiple peaks that occur within a user defined window (from 0 to 100 ms) to be counted as a single peak. Additionally, the user can set the percentage level of modulation that will trigger the indicator. This accommodates stations that have SCAs and are legally allowed more than 100% (+/- 75 khz) modulation. Page 12/17

13 N.R.S.C. MASK DISPLAY In addition to the viewing and configuration of the N.R.S.C. - 5A I.B.O.C. mask in the channel configuration page, the mask is also available for viewing in the Spectrum Analyzer mode of the Real Time pages. The original masks that automatically calculate the power levels for analog and digital signals are still available, but now the user can select N.R.S.C. Mask from that same drop-down menu: NOTE: The reference level for the display of the mask is set automatically in this Real Time mode. To set or adjust the mask reference level manually, you must access and view the mask display in the Channel Configuration pages, which means the station must be (at least temporarily) in the Monitoring List. 14 3. NEW WEBSITE PAGES 3.1 WEBCAM The webcam allows remote viewing (snapshots) of the site where you have the Goldeneagle HD installed. Currently that is the only capability, future software versions will include the ability to detect motion in the webcams field of view, automatically take a snapshot and send an or alarm if the user desires. NOTE: Not all webcams will work with the modified Linux kernel operating system of the Goldeneagle HD! Even webcams that are the same model from the same manufacturer might have slightly different chipsets. For most reliable operation, purchase your webcam for the GE HD through Audemat-Aztec. That way you ensure smooth installation and function. Page 14/17

15 3.2 SNMP NOTIFICATIONS The Notifications page in the embedded website lets the user configure the behavior of the SNMP traps under various conditions. For each different type of SNMP event, the user can select to not send a trap, send it once, or send the trap repeatedly until the trap is acknowledged by an SNMP manager (like the Audemat-Aztec Broadcast Manager system). NEW CAPABILITIES OF THE TOUCHSCREEN 4.1 TIME ALIGNMENT MEASUREMENTS An addition to the functions available on the front panel touchscreen of the Goldeneagle HD allows the user to perform a time alignment measurement on any of the stations configured in the monitoring list. Simply touch the segment of the screen for that station, and select Time Alignment. Then select whether to use the Short or Long time span for the measurement. The GE HD will perform the measurement and display the result. Page 16/17

17 4.2 MAINTENANCE MODE Touching the Menu button and then Config and Management displays the Management menu, including the new Maintenance Mode button. Touching that button will put the Goldeneagle HD into Maintenance mode. The unit will still continue to make regular measurements, and all Realtime functions are still available. However, no alarms will be triggered, and further, any Scripteasy script that may be currently in the unit will be stopped until Maintenance mode is turned off. This means that any relay triggering or other automatic actions will be suspended while work is being done on transmitters or other equipment. Maintenance mode will automatically be turned off after the preset time-out (set in the Options page of the File menu of the Java application), or it can be canceled by touching the Back or Home icons in the bottom toolbar.
