2 1.0 Configuring Motion Detection for LX Apollo / LX Zeus DVRs 1. Login to DVR. 2. Go to Main Menu > Record > Record conf. 3. In the Record conf. window pick the channel (camera) for which you want motion-based recording (or select 'ALL' for all cameras). 4. Pick the day of the week (or 'ALL' for all days). 5. Select the number of PreRecord seconds. This is how many seconds of video is saved before the motion threshold is tripped. 6. The day can be divided into four periods. Next to each period are buttons titled Regular, MD, and Alarm. select Detect deselect Regular deselect Alarm 7. Click OK. 8. Click Cancel to go back to the Main Menu. 9. Click Cancel to close the Main Menu. 10. Right click on the desktop and select Record Mode. 11. Ensure that all active cameras are highlighted in the 'Schedule' line. 12. Click OK. 13. From the Main Menu click 'Alarm'. 14. Click 'Motion Detection'. 15. Choose each channel (individually) that requires motion detection and click 'Enable'. 16. Check that on each channel the 'Record Video' setting matched (1 is highlighted on channel 1, etc). 17. Click OK once all changes are made. v0.1 Qvis Security 2012; All rights reserved 2

3 1.1 Motion Playback on LX Apollo / LX Zeus DVRs 1. Login to DVR. 2. Go to Main Menu > Record > Playback. 3. Click spyglass icon in lower right to open Search Condition page. 4. Select recording type, channel, date, and time for the video you want to view. 5. Click Search. 6. The vertical pane on the right will show available files. Highlight and click play to view. 7. Optional: The box in front of each file can be checked to mark that file for backup. The backup icon is in the lower right and looks like a hard drive (only visible after checking a file). 1.2 Scheduling Motion and Continuous Recording Apollo and Zeus DVR's support precise scheduling of motion and continuous recording, and allow different schedules for individual channels and days of the week. It is very easy to schedule your DVR to continously record during business hours and motion record during after hours: 1. Login to DVR. 2. Open the Main Menu > Record > Record Conf. 3. Select the channel you want to schedule. 4. Set the number of PreRecord seconds (seconds of video before motion trigger that is saved). 5. Select which day of the week you want to schedule. 6. Input the time index for Period 1 (each day begins at 00:00 and ends at 24:00). 7. Use the checkboxes to the right of Period 1 to choose the recording type (Regular, Detect, etc). 8. Repeat the process for each period you want to use. Note that once any period reaches 24:00 the day has a complete schedule. You do not have to use all 4 periods. 9. 4 2.0 Basic LX Apollo / LX Zeus Networking Guide 1. Connect DVR to router LAN port. 2. Connect a computer to router LAN port. 3. On DVR navigate to the Main Menu > System > Network. 4. Input the following values. 5. IP Address: (or other unique address in router's range) If the router's LAN address range is non-standard you must adjust the IP accordingly. 6. Subnet Mask: Gateway: [input router IP address] To determine the router's IP address press key, click Run and type 'CMD' to open command line. In command line type 'ipconfig'. The router's address will be listed under 'Default Gateway'. 8. On the computer, access router administration page by pointing browser to router IP address. 9. Configure the router to forward TCP traffic on ports and 80 to the IP address of the DVR. Different models of router will have different port forwarding procedures. The website has guides for most routers. 10. To test connection, open the command line ( > Run > 'CMD'). 11. In command line type 'ping ' (use alternate DVR address if yours is different). Results should say, 'Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0, (0% loss)'. 2.1 Ensuring Remote Access with Dynamic DNS 1. Using a computer on the same network as your DVR, direct your web browser to 2. At the landing page bottom left click 'Learn More' under heading 'No-IP Free'. 3. Enter your address on the next page and complete registration. After registration you will need to activate your account by confirming your address. Check your for a confirmation message from no-ip.com and follow the instructions within. 4. After activating your account return to the no-ip.com homepage and log in. 5. First time logins will be directed to the Add Host interface, shown on next page. v0.1 Qvis Security 2012; All rights reserved 4

5 6. Enter your desired unique hostname, and choose a domain from the drop-down menu. 7. The site will automatically fill in IP Address to the address of your current network. Leave unchanged. 8. Click 'Create Host'. 9. You will be directed to the Manage Hosts interface. On the left click 'Download Client'. 10. Click the icon representing your operating system (Windows, Linux, Apple OSX) to download. 11. Run the installer to install the No-IP DNS Update Client (No-IP DUC) to the directory of your choice. 12. Launch the No-IP DUC from the Start menu or install directory 13. Log in with your no-ip.com username and password. 14. On the Select Hosts menu, check the box next to your desired host. 15. Click Save. You have now configured Dynamic DNS for your network. By running the No-IP DUC software on a PC, Mac, or Linux computer on your device network you can keep your no-ip.com hosts synchronized with your dynamic IP address. This ensures that you can always access your network remotely, even if your dynamic IP changes. Please Note If you disconnect or power off the computer running the No-IP DUC you are no longer maintaining synchronization with your no-ip.com host. If it is not possible to keep a computer connected to the network online and running the No-IP DUC, consider contacting your service provider about getting a static IP address. v0.1 Qvis Security 2012; All rights reserved 5

6 2.2 Configuring Internet Explorer for Remote Access 1. Open Internet Explorer and press Alt-T to open the tools menu. 2. Click on Internet Options. 3. Click on the Security tab. 4. Click on Trusted Sites icon. 5. Click the Sites button. 6. Uncheck the box that says 'Require server verification ( for all sites in this zone'. 7. Type the IP address or hostname of the DVR in the box labeled 'Add this website to the zone:'. 8. Click the Add button. 9. Click the Close button. 10. Back on the Internet Options menu, click the 'Custom level ' button. 11. Scroll down to the section labeled 'ActiveX controls and plug-ins'. 12. Set all options in this section to 'Enable'. 13. Click the OK button and confirm the setting changes. 14. Click the Apply button. 15. Click OK to exit from Internet Options. 16. Direct your browser to the address of the DVR. 17. Accept all prompts to install the ActiveX Control. 18. Wait while the ActiveX Control installs. You will see the DVR login screen when complete. 2.3 Troubleshooting Remote Access with Internet Explorer On versions of Internet Explorer past Internet Explorer 8 the login screen sometimes has broken formatting. In these cases, Internet Explorer must be set to 'Compatibility Mode' via the following steps: 1. Start Internet Explorer. 2. Access the DVR. 3. Click the small 'broken page' icon at the end of the address bar: 4. The page should now properly render. Alternate Solution 1. Perform steps 1 & 2 as above. 2. Press F12. This brings up a panel of new buttons and menus on the bottom of the screen. 3. Click 'Browser Mode:' (top middle of new panel) and select 'Internet Explorer 9 Compatability Mode'. 4. 7 3.0 CMS Installation and Initial Configuration 1. Before installing please connect to DVR via Internet Explorer (see section 2.2) to download prerequisites 2. Download and install CMS software from: 3. Launch CMS and log in (default password is blank). 4. At the lower right click 'System'. 5. At the upper right click 'Device Manager'. 6. In the upper left of the new window, click the two blue squares ('Add Area') 7. Enter a zone name and click 'OK'. 8. Click on the zone name in the zone list to highlight it. 9. Click the circuit card icon in the upper left ('Add Device') 10. Enter device name, IP address, and login information. 11. Default TCP port is Click 'OK'. 13. From the panel on the left, double click the device name to connect. 14. Highlight a panel in the viewing grid and double click a camera name to display. 3.1 Remote Playback on CMS 1. Add a device to CMS per section In the lower left of CMS click 'Record'. 3. In the upper left of CMS click 'Playback'. 4. From the drop down menu in the top left of the new window, select a DVR and camera 5. In the middle of the left panel, enter time frame to search for video 6. (Optional) You may specify a type of recording (Regular, Motion, Alarm, etc) 7. Click 'Search'. 8.
