1 Bay Area Health Care Services and Resources for LGBTQ Students Lyon-Martin Health Services The mission of Lyon-Martin Health Services (LMHS) is to provide excellent health care to women and transgender people in a safe and compassionate environment with sensitivity to sexual and gender identity; services are provided regardless of ability to pay. Services Primary care HIV-primary care Transgender health care Gynecologic care Breast health services Mental health services Integrated Behavioral Health Healthy living information and referral For appointments call (415) Office visits by appointment only Group Therapy Our new group therapy program offers a range of opportunities for support, psycho-education and to gain new skills to facilitate healthier living. Current groups include: Healthy Coping: including topics such as Relaxation, Setting Boundaries, Time Management, and Coming out (LGBTIQQ) Creating Balance: a harm reduction group to help manage compulsive behaviors (such as use of drugs and alcohol) and reduce their harmful impact. Seeking Safety: focused on healing from the effects of trauma. Upcoming groups include: Lesbian, Bisexual, Queer & Questioning Womenâ s Relationship Group (all those women-identified welcome including trans identified women) Trans Identities Group Adult Drop-In Support Group Living with HIV/AIDS In order to participate we require a brief mental health screening to determine eligibility. Call (415) for more information including cost, if it is covered by your insurance and how to register. While not full-service insurance plans, we also enroll and accept Healthy San Francisco, Family PACT and Every Woman Counts (Breast Cancer Early Detection Program). The Pacific Center The Pacific Center is an award winning, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community center based in Berkeley, CA serving the East Bay and Greater Bay Area. Through professional counseling, groups, community events, and advocacy, Pacific Center works to foster and enhance the well-being and self-respect of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals. Services Counseling Pacific Center's Mental Health Clinic is committed to offering quality mental health services to the LGBTQI community. Services are offered with an understanding of and sensitivity to the issues specific to the LGBTQI community at affordable sliding scale fees. The Pacific Center strives to empower individuals in the LGBTQI community to take action toward building and sustaining health, wholeness, and well-being. Therapists have a broad range of experience and can help you with coming out, anxiety, depression, and other mental health needs. We offer counseling services for individual, couples, and families. The Pacific Center also offers ongoing facilitated therapy groups. We provide referrals for other providers as appropriate. Medi-Cal payments are accepted. To request counseling services please call our counseling request line at x250. The request line is staffed by our therapists from 9am to 6pm Monday - Friday. Your call will be returned within 24 hours. Peer Groups The Pacific Center offers ongoing, drop-in, peer-facilitated groups on a range of topics and issues important to our communities. These groups meet weekly at the Pacific Center to provide support and friendship for our community. Suggested donations for peer group attendees is $5 to $20 per group meeting. We believe that in order to end homophobia and heterosexism, we must confront all forms of oppression, including racism, sexism, ageism, classism, and ableism. People who have experienced or witnessed harassment, violence, abuse, threats, or trauma are encouraged to call our Safety Line at (415) 333-HELP (4357) for emotional support, safety planning, and service referrals. The Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA) is the world's largest and oldest association of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) health care professionals. GLMA was founded in 1981 as the American Association of Physicians for Human Rights with the mission of ensuring equality in health care for LGBT individuals and health care professionals. Originally open only to physicians, residents and medical students, in 2002 GLMA expanded its mission and now represents the interests of tens of thousands of LGBT health professionals of all kinds, as well as millions of LGBT patients.
