1 HOW TO USE THE RESOURCE LOCATOR The Resource Locator is an online searchable directory of resources in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. It is searchable by category of service or by location, and covers resources such as substance abuse help, mental health services, and medical care. Private and public facilities are listed. Many services are provided free or for a nominal fee. The Resource Locator is maintained by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. Searching the Resource Locator The Resource Locator has three ways to find facilities. Choose one by clicking a button on the left of the home screen. Use SELECT SERVICES to limit your search to facilities meeting your specific needs. 1) Find Facilities by Category- Find facility by service category 2) Find Facilities by Name Find facilities by part or all of a facility name. 3) Find Facilities Near You Find facilities nearest the street address, city, zip code, or ward you enter. This search crosses state, city, zip code, and ward boundaries. 4) Find Facilities by State, City, County, Zip Code, or Ward Find facilities in the state, city, county, zip code, or ward you enter. This search does not cross state, city, county, zip code, or ward boundaries.

2 Find Facilities by Category Click the button By Category to identify facilities based on all or part of a facility name. This feature may be used to quickly find information for a specific facility. Click SEARCH to complete the search. The Locator displays a listing of 10 facilities at a time.

3 Find Facilities by Name Click the button By Name to identify facilities based on all or part of a facility name. This feature may be used to quickly find information for a specific facility. Click SEARCH to complete the search. The Locator displays a listing of 10 facilities at a time.

4 Find Facilities Near You Click the button Near You or click an area on the map. On the next screen, enter a complete street address or a state, city, zip code, or ward. The Locator will use the street address or the center of the state, city, zip code, or ward as its starting point. Select a search distance. Click SEARCH to complete the search, or click SELECT SERVICES to access a page that allows you to choose the services or other characteristics that a facility must have to be included in the search results. The Locator displays a map and listing of the 10 facilities closest to the starting point.

5 Find Facilities by State, City, County, Zip Code, or Ward This search restricts results to the State (s), city, county, zip code(s) or ward you specify. This type of search is useful if you will be using Medicaid or other State-financed insurance to pay for your treatment and need to find facilities located in DC Metropolitan area. Click the button By State, City, County, Zip code, or Ward, then click one of the options on the next screen and use the drop-down menus for the option you selected. Click SEARCH to complete the search, or click SELECT SERVICES to access a page that allows you to choose the services or other characteristics that a facility must have to be included in the search results. Use SELECT SERVICES to locate only those facilities meeting your needs (Table 1, Table 2). Each category in the table of contents has a unique list of Services Provided, Programs, and Populations to best capture the range of services available. Forms of Payment Accepted, Payment Assistance Available, Special Language Services, and Other Services are consistent throughout the categories.

A. Under Services Provided, select Substance Abuse Treatment. B. Under Type of Care, check short-term residential. Example 2: You want to find a facility providing short-term residential substance abuse treatment within 5 miles from your home. You are a mother and would like to bring your 2 year-old daughter to treatment. A. Under Services Provided, select Substance Abuse Treatment B. Under Type of Care, check short-term residential C. Under Programs, check Residential beds for client s children Alternately, you may elect to simply check Residential beds for client s children under Programs. Table 2. Toggle Show All Details/Hide All Details to show or hide detailed services information for all facilities. Alternately, you may toggle Show/Hide for individual facilities. Click Download to download a file including facility name, location and mailing addresses, telephone numbers, website, and services. Click Map to produce a street map and facility information for individual facilities.
