3 supportive care What to Expect We believe every individual is unique. From neuroscience education, to beach walks and individual therapy, so are our treatment methods. Recovery from alcohol and other drugs requires structure within a flexible framework to accommodate employment, school and family schedules. The Conscious Recovery program utilizes comprehensive, evidenced-based psychological, biological and educational mental health treatment methods and 12-step facilitation for understanding substance use and abuse to increase over-all well-being in the real world for long-term recovery. Location Beach Meets Urban Community Conscious Recovery by CLARE is located in the beach-side community of Santa Monica, California with all the amenities of an urban city. Santa Monica is a popular tourist destination known for its historic sand and surf culture, premiere shopping and nearby Santa Monica Mountains. It s also a community of families, young and old, with many of whom CLARE Foundation has served as a compassionate, solutionprovider for substance abuse recovery care for over 40 years. 7 Sample Course Descriptions Substance Use Disorder and The Addicted Brain Conscious Recovery views addiction as a chronic disease and educates clients about the effects the use of various drugs have on their lives by utilizing the latest scientific evidence, including cognitive behavioral (CBT), neuroscience, 12-step facilitation and cutting-edge treatment. Relapse Prevention and Recovery Skills How do you become skilled at something? You practice it often to improve your abilities. Relapse prevention and recovery skills are those we obtain, or the skills we had all along but never used, that help keep us sober. This includes but is not limited to avoiding triggers, meditation, learning to be honest and becoming accountable. Mental Wellness and Co-Occurring Disorders At Conscious Recovery, we believe that in order to effectively treat substance abuse, we must also simultaneously address symptoms associated with mental health disorders. Clients will gain valuable knowledge about the disorders of mental health that are often co-occurring with substance abuse like depression, anxiety, bi-polar, and personality disorders. Tailor-Made, Holistic Recovery Support Conscious Recovery utilizes a holistic approach and works with the client to develop an integrative, individualized, long-term treatment plan centered on a healthy mind, body and spirit. We believe no recovery model is a one-size-fits-all. Overcoming Obstacles A chain of small decisions can lead, over time, to relapse (Marlatt and Gordon, 1985). We use the latest behavioral and cognitive scientific methodology to transform small decisions that lead to high-risk physical, social, and psychological situations to retrain responses and stress reduction strategies. This leads to a more productive path to peace and pleasure. Healing from Anger Anger is a basic human emotion and it is unrealistic to expect to never feel anger. It is an essential human experience when channeled in a healthy way. In Healing from Anger, clients will not eliminate anger but learn effective skills to help manage anger in both healthy and appropriate ways. Spirituality What is Spirituality? Clients will understand how addiction affects spirituality, and explore their place in the world. 8 Family Program Addiction affects everyone in the family. The program consists of psychoeducation and relational skills building from a Family Systems theoretical approach. Conscious Recovery offers families, with or without a significant other in treatment, a safe place to explore their own role in the addiction system and to develop skills to recover together. 9 Conscious Recovery by CLARE Real Life for Real Recovery At Conscious Recovery we offer a welcoming and clean environment, utilizing the beach as our backyard and the mountains as our playground. While we incorporate these attractions into our recovery program, our treatment is focused on the physical, emotional, and spiritual effects of addiction. Benefits of Outpatient Therapy Residential treatment may be necessary to stabilize a client. However, many people have too many personal responsibilities to enter into a residential treatment program. An outpatient program is a reasonable alternative. 10 program options Options to Fit Your Lifestyle Conscious Recovery offers outpatient recovery services to meet the demanding schedules of the clients we serve. Day Rehabilitative Treatment- DAYlight treatment is most appropriate for those who need more intensive treatment and are able to spend six and a half hours per day for five days per week at Conscious Recovery. Intensive Outpatient Treatment- SUNlight and MOONlight programs offer morning or evening treatment for those unable to devote six and a half hours a day for treatment services or those who have graduated from the DAYlight program. Both programs are offered for three and a half hours and up to five days per week and include family support, individual and group counseling and after-care services.

11 Which Treatment is Right for You Both Day Rehabilitative Treatment and our Intensive Outpatient programs start by helping clients and their families recover from drug and alcohol use. Which program is right for you or your loved one depends upon the level of recovery support needed and the flexibility of a client s schedule. We offer a professional and collaborative assessment that will help you decide which program is right for you. Financing If you have insurance benefits then you could qualify for little or no out of pocket costs for your treatment. Partial scholarships are available.
