1 E-BUSINESS & WEB DESIGN TECHNOLOGY Plan for Assessment of Student Academic Achievement From the Mission of Hocking College Hocking College is an innovative, experience-based technical college that nurtures learning and learner success. Mission of Academic Affairs Unit Nurtures learning and learner success. Mission of E-Business Technology To prepare students for entry-level career positions as E-Business professionals, to encourage their professional growth and lifelong learning in the E-Business profession, and to prepare them for a lifetime of service to society in the new economy. Central Objective Graduates of the E-BusinessTechnology will be well prepared for entry-level employment. IP0708E-Business&WebDesign/1
2 Success Skills The following general outcomes are life and work skills cultivated in all students seeking the Associate Degree. 1. Communicates effectively. 2. Demonstrates math skills. 3. Demonstrates learning and critical thinking skills. 4. Maintains professional skills and attitudes. 5. Practices human relations skills. 6. Demonstrates knowledge of science and the environment. 7. Demonstrates community, cultural, and global awareness. 8. Maintains a code of ethics. Program Outcomes The following outcomes express additional, particular skills, behaviors, and attitudes cultivated in students seeking the Associate Degree in E-Business & Web Design. 1. Develops an e-commerce strategy founded on market research. 2. Utilizes a variety of web site design software. 3. Develops an effective storyboard layout of an e-commerce site. 4. Designs an e-commerce site. 5. Implements customer support programs into e-commerce design. 6. Utilizes networks to post the e-commerce site to a web server. 7. Utilizes client software to administer various e-commerce servers. 8. Develops a web marketing strategy. 9. Demonstrates an understanding of legal and ethical issues surrounding e-business. 10. Utilizes Internet software. The E- Commerce & Web Design Technology held an OBE session on 5/27/07.The following outcomes were determined: 1. Creates, develops, and maintains e-business practices to promote goals of the organization. 2. Demonstrates proficient information technology skills and applies them to web design. 3. Develops and demonstrates business management and leadership skills. 4. Utilizes business skills and practices to manage projects successfully. IP0708E-Business&WebDesign/2
3 5. Demonstrates proficient e-marketing skills and applies them to web site promotion. 6. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills when offering creative solutions to co-workers and clients. 7. Develops and maintains professional and ethical behavior consistent with industry standards. The Success Skills and Program Outcomes combine to form a single set of skills, behaviors, and attitudes determined desirable for entry-level practitioners in E-Commerce, for graduates transferring to four-year institutions, and for educated citizens.
