10 The Syndicat des Transports d Ile de France Is the operating arm of the Ile-de-France Regional Council, in charge of organising and regulating public transport in Ile-de-France. 19 Chronology of the project 2008 : Decision by the central government to launch an ambitious development program for Ile- De-France June 2010 : law creating SGP From october 2010 through to january 2011 : huge public debate, which gathered participants through 55 public meetings. It showed a very strong support for the project, resulting in : An agreement between the central state and the Ile de France region in january 2011 on the comprehensive 200 kms 72 stations network : the Grand Paris Express (GPE) is born. According to this agreement, the SGP has been entrusted with the blue, red, green and orange lines, totalling 200 kms and 69 stations. October 2014 : Confirmation of the GPE financing credits and acceleration of the calendar

37 Environmental management approach For each section of the subway network, the SGP conducts an assessment study of the environmental impacts. All types of impacts are taken in account and analyzed : Short term impacts : construction phases Long term impacts : metro operation phase Cumulative impacts with the neighbouring projects Direct impacts : destruction of natural environment, Indirect impact : disturbance of the underground water tables induced by the construction of the infrastructure, This process is intended to anticipate and mitigate impacts that the proposed project may cause for the environment. 37

38 Environmental management approach Master plan for the management of the excavated materials - A Planning tool : to anticipate, control and organize excavated material disposal and treatment as early as possible in the decision making process, in accordance with sustainable development goals of the project, - Extensive consultation involving local representatives and every stakeholders in the waste management and transportation sectors.
