Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, tender documentation and contract documentation. 2. Administer and supervise contracts in accordance with the relevant Standards and/or Codes of Practice. Project Management functions, scheduling techniques, Critical path analysis, PERT charts, Gantt charts, uncertainty and Risk management Contract law and Documentation, schedules of Quantities, costing and Tendering, time cost/quality balance, contract types, engineering company structures Requirements of discipline specific Conditions of Contract Interactive learning will be the primary learning method and will be used to introduce theoretical knowledge to students through one-onone contact, class contact and group work. Interactive teaching/learning methods will ensure that students are engaged and involved. Group work will enable students to engage in class activities encouraging optimal use of the individual s preferred learning style while developing the students Formative Feedback is continuous throughout the course with test questions on emit and individual lab progress feedback. Small structured tasks provide opportunities for ongoing formative assessment of students progress where possible. Students will do this in groups e.g. crossword puzzles, short quizzes, research assignments; Students are given the opportunity to practice their skills in a structured and supervised environment. This facilitates the opportunity for Q & A and constructive feedback on an ongoing basis. Summative assessment A wide range of free / open source software has been used during the preceding 18 months of study, this course will require students to use a selection of these applications to complete the requirements of this course. In addition there will be numerous online resources such as IRD, Bank, IPENZ etc used to develop a complete plan of action (Portfolio).

3 Learning Outcomes Outline of Content Learning and Teaching Critically evaluate professional (NZS3910), dispute ability to work together as a practice principles and their resolution team. application to an engineering environment. Guest speakers will be used where appropriate. Real-world scenarios, project work The LMS functions as the home page of the course. It is used as a source of information and news, for revision, for both formative and summative exercises, and other on-line activities. A wide range of resource material is uploaded for use by the students. The LMS is used as an assessment tool and to promote and reinforce learning. The concept central to this course is the theme that students will set up their own company for the Project 50% covering (LO 1-4) to assess students ability to plan and manage a project, prepare and administer a contract and the interpretation of Standards and/or Codes of Practice. Examination 50% covering (LO 1-4) to test overall knowledge of the course using detailed explanations. The assessment weightings and types are set in the NZDE national documentation. Students must achieve a minimum of 50% overall to pass the course.
