This new system brings intelligent archive solutions to the P2 workflow. It uses either large-capacity, compact, highspeed-transfer Linear Tape-Open (LTO) or easy-to-handle Blu-ray Disc (BD) media. LTO media enables direct playback and partial retrieve from archive Tapes. And the system supports all P2 codecs up to AVC-Intra200 for file-based footage, and optionally handles AVCHD, XDCAM, and ProRes files. Video ingestion is supported for tape-based data. A variety of HD/SD codecs enable file conversion ranging from AVC-Intra200 to DVCPRO. Unique Panasonic Error Rate Monitoring provides highly efficient, labor-saving video loading. And all video footage can be managed with metadata for fast, easy searching. This advanced archive system greatly reduces storage space, media expense, running costs, and time. *1: Video ingestion (file conversion) is required prior to archiving tape footage. *2: Direct playback and partial retrieve are possible only with archives of P2 or tape-based footage. 3 Screenshot of displaying Video Ingester Video Ingest Software MXF File Conversion of Tape-Based Footage Linking with Archiving Software* 1 enables tape-recorded footage (HD/SD) to be input from a VTR via SDI or IEEE 1394,* 2 for MXF-format file conversion, and saving and management on LTO tape or other media. *1: Video Ingest Software can be installed on the same PC as the Archiving Software, but ingestion and archiving cannot be done simultaneously. *2: IEEE 1394 input supports only HD (DVCPRO HD) and SD (DVCPRO 50/DVCPRO). HDV input and MPEG-TS input are not supported. Manual/Auto Ingest Select manual ingesting for VTR playback operation, or auto ingesting to specify multiple IN/OUT points. The VTR is controlled via RS-422 remote. Auto ingest lets you set up to 100 ingestion segments, which can also be loaded from CSV files. Custom-Made Product Versatile HD/SD Codecs, Including AVC-Intra200 The AVC-Intra200 codec is supported. HD-D5 and other high-quality HD images are easily converted to files. In addition, an AVC-Intra100, AVC-Intra50, or DVCPRO HD codec can be selected for file conversion via an SDI interface. SD images can be converted to files with a DVCPRO 50 or DVCPRO codec. IEEE 1394 Interface Footage recorded with DVCPRO HD, DVCPRO 50, or DVCPRO systems can be converted to high-quality image files without encoding, via the IEEE 1394 interface. Metadata Input Metadata can be added during ingestion. Files with metadata attached can be easily retrieved with metadata key words, for fast and easy reuse of tape footage. Error Rate Monitoring and Recording Panasonic led the industry with its development of the Error Rate Monitoring and Recording function. While the video is loading, the VTR status is monitored at regular intervals via RS-422 remote, and the monitoring result (error rate) is automatically recorded into a log and text memo for the converted video files. The recorded error rate can be easily checked when reusing the archive. This eliminates the need for physical monitoring while loading and also increases reliability. Points where errors occurred were jotted onto a list for later checking. Video Ingest Software automatically monitors and records. Points with high error rates are also recorded onto video files as text memos.

Using the LT06* 1 tape (2.5 TB) as an example, SD data from approximately minute tapes can be stored on a single cartridge. Data transfer speed, at 1280 Mbps, is more than 6 times* 2 as fast as a BD-R. LTO has more than a 30 year track record in banks, brokerages and government institutions, proving its reliability, data compatibility, future potential, and system expandability. *1: Future compatibility planned. *2: Compared with BD-R 6x speed. Proxy Video and Metadata Automatically Added Low-rate MPEG-4 proxy video can be generated, and metadata (see items below) can be added and edited while archiving. Metadata can be used to search for key words, shooting dates and other dates,* 3 and various other tags to narrow down searches to only the corresponding content. Proxy video can be quickly previewed for easy checking of recorded scenes. The use of DCF Technologies is under license from Multi-Format, Inc. *3: media can be searched with the archive date, media production date, posting date, or broadcast date. Search Target Field (customizable) Creator, Shooter, User Set Location, Program, Reporter, Purpose, Object, Last Update Person, Clip Name, User Clip Name, Device Manufacturer, Device Model Name, Frame Rate, VFR Ratio, Start UB, Pull Down, Aspect Ratio, Proxy Format, Proxy Video Codec, Start TC, Video Codec, Text Memo, Memo Author, Metadata Name, Category, User Text 1, 2, 3 Drag & Drop Operation and Batch Archiving The graphical user interface (GUI) is simple and easy to understand. It allows archive tasks to be registered by dragging and dropping the recording media, content, or bucket (temporary storage area) onto the archive media. Up to 10 copy tasks using multiple recording media and multiple archive media can be registered for batch execution, greatly simplifying the archive operation. Setting a Temporary Storage Area (Bucket)* 4 A bucket can be provided to gather the link information for various recording content. This is convenient when dropping multiple recording media onto a single archive media. *4: Footage that is stored in media that is automatically detected, such as P2 cards, LTO tape or BD discs, cannot be registered in a bucket. Direct Playback from an LTO Content can easily be reused. Original images can be directly* 5 played from archive data stored on LTO tape. When restoring recording data, copying is possible by designating the content or the media. *5: Tape cueing requires some time when directly playing back LTO tapes. Partial Retrieve Designated segments can be retrieved for copying from content* 6 saved onto LTO tape. This is handy when you want to use a single, short scene from a relatively long clip. The segment is selected by placing IN/OUT marks onto proxy video using the viewer. Up to 10 segments can be designated with IN/OUT marks for each clip. *6: Partial retrieve is not possible for content stored on Blu-ray Discs. Attachments and Script Registration Interview scripts, scenarios, photos and other data related to the image content can be attached to content files and archived together with the images. This simplifies viewing and reuse for production or broadcasting. LTO Backup LTO tape is copied at the LTO drive s maximum speed (approximately 7 hours for an LT06 tape). A slave tape can then be used for normal operations, and if a problem occurs, it can easily be recovered from the master tape. Barcode Management Media can be efficiently managed by reading barcodes printed onto labels or jackets.

Connected to the archiving system and the network, it searches for archived content and previews video proxies. Up to four terminals can be installed per archiving system. Upgrading the system with external HDDs or network servers also allows the retrieval and use of actual data rather than proxy data. Content Distribute Software This software can be installed onto an existing PC and used for archived content that is stored onto Blu-ray Discs and other types of delivery media. It lets you search for data, preview proxy images, and make restore request data of original footage. Software Support for other Codecs Installing this software onto a Professional System lets you archive content other than P2 in its native format. AVCHD, XDCAM, ProRes, MPEG, HQ and other files can be loaded in their native format and archived into a single database together with P2 files.
