2 Sponsoring Society Nagarjuna Education Society: The Nagarjuna Education Society (Regd.), Guntur, was established and registered in 1967 by Philanthropists, Medical Doctors, Industrial and Commercial Houses and the elite of Guntur with a mission of serving the society through Education. Brief History of the Institution The famous educationist, humanist, philanthropist Vidwan Sri Gogineni Kanakaiah (now at 9) felt the need and the necessity for a College of Education, which can cater to the needs of all sections of the society. At this juncture, Rayapati Venkata Ranga Rao College of Education was ushered into existence in the open category under the aegis of Nagarjuna Education Society, during the academic year The management Dr. Kondabolu Basavapunnaiah, M.B.B.S., a popular doctor, a disciplinarian, and the visionary educationist, as President since 2003 and Sri Gadde Mangaiah, M.Sc., an academician and able administrator as the Secretary and Correspondent since 1998 are leading the institution to the highest position in the field of Teacher Education. Bhaskara Rao, M.Sc., M.A., M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D. Member Details of Physical and Academic Infrastructure The institution is endowed with appropriate resources including class rooms, library, psychology laboratory, Computer laboratory, Educational Technology laboratory, Work experience laboratory, Assembly hall, Multimedia A.C seminar hall and other academic facilities necessary for quality teacher education. The institution is having a three storied building measuring around sq.ft. housing B.Ed., M.Ed., M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses, with excellent facilities. The institution has a spacious library, spread over 200 sq.ft. which can provide reading facility for about 100 students and 20 staff members with all the comfort. The library has around 9000 books including text books, reference books and many encyclopedia, etc., in addition to several Indian and Foreign journals, periodicals and many news papers. The psychology laboratory has equipments and materials required for effective instruction and research. It has a guidance wing with qualified counsellors to solve the varied problems faced by student folklore. The spacious Computer laboratory with about latest multimedia computers connected by Local Area Network and unlimited Broadband Internet facility is providing excellent computer education to B.Ed., M.Ed. students and supporting enduring research opportunities to M.Phil. and Ph.D. students. It has all the required facilities for staff and students like printing and scanning. The Educational Technology laboratory with LCD Projector, projectors of different kinds like slide, film strip, overhead and other Audio and Video equipment like tape recorders, T.V., Digital camera and Handy Cam, C.D s and D.V.D s and other software is very helpful to increase the effectiveness of teachinglearning process in the institution. The work experience laboratory has tools and equipment which are essential for the students to have hands on experience in different walks of life. The multimedia A.C Seminar hall with a seating capacity of 180 students has all the required facilities like public address system and LCD projector for arranging teaching classes, guest lectures, seminars and meetings. The Assembly hall with a seating capacity of 20 students has all the required facilities for conducting meetings. 3

4 All the classrooms, seminar halls, laboratories and other rooms are thoroughly furnished as per the norms and the requirements of NCTE and Acharya Nagarjuna University. Course (To be implemented from Batch) Intake Capacity: 40 Eligibility Criteria for admission 1. No candidate shall be admitted to the course of the Degree of Master of Education, unless he has taken the B. Ed. degree in Acharya Nagarjuna University or equivalent degree in some other University recognized by the Academic Council. 2. No student shall be eligible for the Degree of Master of Education unless he has completed the prescribed course of study in the University or in an affiliated college extending over two semesters / two years comprising 100 days in each semester/ year, ordinarily consecutive and has passed the qualifying examination and has satisfied the examiners in a dissertation on an approved subject. About the Course The duration of the course is one academic year with two semesters. In the first semester there are four compulsory papers. In the second semester there are two compulsory papers and two special papers to be chosen from the six subjects offered to the student. In addition to the theory papers, the student has to submit a dissertation guided by a faculty before the commencement of the second semester theory examinations. The total of the course are 1000 and 0 credits i.e. ( ). The total 0 credits is divided as 20 credits for the first semester, 20 credits for the second semester and 10 credits for dissertation. Each theory paper carries credits. 4 compulsory theory papers in the first semester carries 4 x =20 credits. 4 papers i.e. (two compulsory and 2 special theory papers) in the second semester carries 4 x =20 credits. Dissertation work which starts from the first semester ends with second semester carries 10 credits. In the second semester itself each student has to select any one noncore paper of their own choice offered by various PG departments of ANU. Each noncore paper carries 4 credits. Taking the exam in noncore paper is mandatory for the successful completion of the course.

6 Age Limit: There is no age limit for joining in M.Ed. course. Admission Process: A student can join M.Ed. Course through Convener, ANU PGCET, ANU. Convener quota admissions are made on the basis of merit obtained in the common entrance test called ANU PGCET conducted by convener, ANU PGCET, Acharya Nagarjuna University for that academic year. The students will be admitted strictly in accordance with the rank secured at the entrance examination, keeping in view the rules in force in respect of the statutory reservations of seats under various categories of students. Usually, the notification for ANU PGCET every year is given in the month of March and the test is held in the month of May. The admissions are made by the convener in the month of July for the Colleges of Education offering M.Ed. course and which are affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University. Tuition Fee The course tuition fee and special fee are fixed by the Acharya Nagarjuna University. The tuition fee and special fee for the academic year are 24,200and 000 respectively. Fee Refund Request for cancellation of admission and refund of fee may be considered by the convener, ANU PGCET, Acharya Nagarjuna University for that academic year. Such requests should be submitted along with original allotment order and the fee receipt to the convener, ANU PGCET before the commencement of the classes. Any fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances after the commencement of classes. Working Hours / Instructional Hours 1. The college works for 6 hours every day. Part - II: Dissertation Each candidate shall be required to submit a dissertation in a subject approved by the University. The dissertation shall be prepared under the direction of a teacher educator and submitted one month before the public examinations of the second semester. 7 A. Dissertation work should start during the first semester. B. It must be satisfactory in respect of literary presentation as well as in other respects and should be suitable for publication. C. It shall have bearing on some aspect of education and embody either, (i) a record of original investigation, or (ii) a critical analysis of existing data or (iii) a combination of both.

The candidate shall indicate generally in his preface to the dissertation and in notes the source from which his/her information is taken, the extent to which he/she has availed himself of the work of others and the portion of the dissertation which he/she claims as his/her original work. E. Every dissertation shall be accompanied by a certificate signed by the teacher educator who guided the candidate in the preparation of dissertation stating that the dissertation is genuine work of the candidate and that it is worthy of examination. 10 Note: Out of the total of theory papers, % are to be internally evaluated. University Rules for Evaluation Process 1. All the Theory papers and Dissertation shall be valued by two examiners, one of them being an examiner residing outside the University area. In case of disparity of 20% of or more, papers and dissertation shall be referred to a third examiner. The average of the 3 independent valuations shall be considered for eligibility for pass in the examination. 2. In each paper, the internal (%) shall be awarded keeping in view the regularity, one assignment, one seminar and one internal examination in each semester. 3. There shall be a viva voce for the dissertation to be conducted by a panel of examiners comprising (1) the research supervisor, (2) an external examiner from outside university 3) an internal member from within Acharya Nagarjuna University region. 4. A Candidate shall be declared to have passed the examination if he obtains 40% of the in each paper and in dissertation and 0% on the aggregate.. Candidates who secure not less than 60% of the are placed in I class and those who secure not less than 0% of the are placed in the second class. A candidate who fails in Part II Dissertation shall be permitted to present a revised dissertation on the same subject without being required to produce any additional certificate of attendance. 6. A Candidate shall not be permitted to appear for the M.Ed. Degree Examination for more than four successive years from the date of admission. 7. Candidate appearing for betterment shall be permitted not more than two times within the four successive years from the date of admission. Question Paper Model The question paper consists of two sections: A & B. The syllabus shall have 8 units for each paper. Part A consists of 8 short answer questions out of which 8 are to be answered following internal choice each one consisting of. Each answer should not exceed 1 1/2 page. Part B consists of 2 essay questions with internal choice carrying 1 each. Each answer should not exceed 6 pages. The duration of examination is 3 hours. Each question carries a) 9. b) 10. a) 10. b) University Rules for Attendance Each semester of M.Ed. Course consists of 90 working days irrespective of the date and period of admissions. Each student shall necessarily put in 90% of attendance without fail in each semester, to be eligible to appear for the university examinations.
