1 SANDRA P. SMITH, AIA, LEED -AP BACKGROUND Sandy Smith joined TRO Jung Brannen in 1971 to head housing design. During her career here, she has designed more than 2,000 units of housing across a broad spectrum of programs which includes congregate care, elderly communities, townhouse developments, urban luxury residences and resort communities. She has expanded her base expertise in housing design into an equally impressive resume of hotel work. Ms. Smith is also knowledgeable in building renovation, both historic and adaptive reuse, and recently completed managing the transformation of Boston's signature landmark, The Custom House Tower, into vacation residences for Marriott. Boston Preservation Alliance Preservation Achievement The Victorian Society of America Preservation Commendation Blue Ridge Estates Richmond, Virginia A VHA/HUD housing project of 182 units of family and elderly housing: 48 one-bedroom units, 96 two-bedroom units, 28 three-bedroom units, 10 four-bedroom units. Units are divided into 49 low-density buildings grouped around naturally landscaped courtyards on a 53.4-acre wooded site. A two-story, 5,800 square foot community center with recreational facilities services the project. Blake Estates I & II, Hyde Park A MHFA/HUD housing project of 263 elderly and handicapped housing units on 5.2-acre site. Residential units are grouped around landscaped courtyards with interconnecting corridors. Section I: 175 one-bedroom units. Section II: 88 one- and two-bedroom units.
