Based on the assessment data, Coordinated and implemented a Clinical Faculty Preparation Program. TRANSFER OF KNOWLEDGE THROUGH EXPATRIATE NATIONALS (TOKTEN) PROJECT, UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, June 1 - June 30, Served as a Short-term Nursing Consultant, designed and implemented two structured staff development programs, Critical Care Nursing Course and Preceptor Training Program. LAPORTE HOSPITAL& HEALTH SERVICES. August December Provided consultation for the Professional Development Program. The consultation involved development of an evaluation tool and plan for competency assessment of critical thinking skills in clinical practitioners. PEKING UNION MEDICAL COLLEGE, CHINA. February 20 - May 4, 1997 Served as a mentor for 2 Peking Union Medical College nursing faculty members visiting PNC. Mentoring activities included: modeling classroom and clinical teaching strategies. PEKING UNION MEDICAL COLLEGE, CHINA. June 3-11, Provided consultation for curriculum revision of the BS Nursing Program at Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) in China. The curriculum was revised from a traditional medical model to a nursing model adapted from Gordon s Functional Health Pattern. PUMC was the first nursing program in mainland China to adopt a nursing model curriculum. Facilitated group discussion among nursing faculty to revised program objectives, and develop course objectives, content outlines, and learning activities for the following nursing core courses: Nursing Foundations, Nursing Therapeutics Related to Oxygenation, Nursing Therapeutics Related to Nutrition/Elimination, Nursing Therapeutics Related to Cognition/Perception, and Nursing Therapeutics Related to Sexuality/Reproduction. PROJECT HOPE, THE PEOPLE TO-PEOPLE HEALTH FOUNDATION, June 3-August 12, With 3 other American nurse educators, coordinated and implemented a 2 month Faculty Preparation Program for Baccalaureate Nursing Program sponsored by The Project Hope, The People to People Health Foundation,

5 Inc. The program was held at the Beijing Medical University. Faculty from 11 newly established BS nursing programs attended. These programs were the first professional nursing programs established in China since the Culture Revolution ended in A series of workshops were conducted on the following topics: Nursing Research; Nursing Theory; Curriculum Development; Program Evaluation; and Teaching Strategies in Nursing Education. FOOYIN JUNIOR NURSING COLLEGE, TAIWAN. August 20, January 4, (Sabbatical Leave from PNC) Provided consultation for curriculum development and program evaluation. Developed and taught a new course, Physical Assessment. PROJECT HOPE, THE PEOPLE -TO-PEOPLE HEALTH FOUNDATION, INC. February 20-June 30, (Sabbatical Leave from PNC) With 2 other American nurse educators, coordinated and implemented a 4 month Nursing Faculty Preparation Program for Professional Nursing Education at Xian Medical College in China sponsored by Project Hope, The People to People Health Foundation, Inc. MINISTRY OF EDUCATION IN TAIWAN, July 1 - August 3, With 8 other American nurse educators, coordinated and implemented a one month Faculty Preparation Program for Professional Nursing Education sponsored by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. Sixty faculty from different regions of Taiwan attended. A series of workshops covered the following topics: Nursing Theory; Curriculum Building; and Teaching Strategies. 5
