All participants agreed that the schedule for the
3 following year seems reasonable and there is no need for change The following list for the deadlines was made: All the participants will ask their national Socrates Agency for the application forms of the international mobility of students in the schoolyear , program Comenius 2.2.A, which is a part of our project Comenius 2.1., and ask which is the national deadline All persons should fill the internal evaluation report and send it to Dr. Jaan Susi Time Sheets of working hours in October and November and Travel + Subsistence Costs to the coordinator All Partners should send the documents of national/institutional recourses for education to coordinator Seija Valtonen Dr. Maija Aksela, Finland, will launch the Web-site of the EU TRAIN project. She will make a table for national educational systems so that it will be easy to compare them Publication of the Web-site for EU TRAIN project (Dr. Maija Aksela, person in charge) Translations of curricula for practical training of science teachers First draft of the mobility plan should be ready. Deadlines of the Internal Report Sheets: 1. Internal Progress Report Form, once a year /7/8 All the recipes and internal report forms concerning the previous period should be sent to the co-ordinator before /7/8 2. Time Sheet once a month, for the first time Cost to employer per day/hour will be counted deviding the cost per year by the number of working days/working hours. 3. Internal Report Sheet Personnel Costs when there will be changes in salaries. 4. Internal Report Sheet Travel + Subsistence Costs will be set to co-ordinator after every project meeting. The original recipes, for instance boarding passes and tickets, must be included. 5. Internal Report Sheet Equipment and Materials after purchases 6. Internal Report Sheet Subcontracting Costs for sub-contracting, consultancy and other external services: for translators, evaluators, book printing in Bulgaria and referees of the book 7. Internal Report Sheet Other Costs for information material for student teachers, Internet connection costs and book translated and published in Polish 3 Allocation of tasks for the project Allocation of tasks was discussed.

Turlo K. Przegietka K. Przegietka 4 Evaluation strategy for the project Dr. Jaan Susi presented ideas about the evaluation of the project. The evaluation comprises internal and external evaluation. Internal evaluation is carried out by partner institutions and students taking in to the mobility actions and the external evaluation by external evaluator. All national project plans and activities are evaluated by coordination meetings where national plans or new teacher training curricula, preliminary findings and results will be presented and evaluated. The project working group of Tartu University collects internal evaluation and writes the evaluation document for interims and the final report. They also prepare the draft of evaluation plan to be published on the web page in September Dr. Miia Rannikmäe, a senior researcher at the Center of Science Education University of Tartu, was selected to be the external evaluator. She has published several scientific papers, she is a board member of IOSTE and a member of several OECD working groups. In general, Dr. Miia Rannikmäe was evaluated competent to carry out the external evaluation of the EU TRAIN project 5 Agreement of financial arrangements Financial agreements were discussed. First 40 % of the total amount of the grant has been transferred to the account of the coordinating institution (Helsinki University). Allocation of recourses was discussed and no changes to the previous agreed portions were proposed. Financial manager is now the secretary of Helsingin Normaalilyseo, Eila Savonheimo, and will be M..C. Marja Loukasmäki, beginning The Project Coordinator Seija Valtonen and financial manager Marja Loukasmäki should be contacted whenever one has questions about financing, money transfers, or such.
5 6 Contractual arrangements Discussion about the different kind of arrangements was arranged on Sunday 20 November. First, the concepts were clarified. Contract comes into operation between the Coordinating Institution and the Commission of the European Communities (CEC) when the Grant Agreement has been issued. These documents are undersigned by official representatives of the Coordinating Institution and the CEC. Coordinator is the representative person for the Coordinating Institution. Hereinafter the Coordinating Institution is referred to a Contractor, in this case, the Helsinki University. Partner Agreements comes into operation at the same time. Partner Agreements are agreements between the Coordinating Institution and the Partner Institution. Partner institution has a representative person. These documents are undersigned by the official representatives of the Contractor and the Partner, such as, Rector or Vice Rector. Within the project, the Coordinative Institution is willing to make Individual Agreements between the Coordinator and the person belonging to the project. Discussion was vivid and all partners were able to present their ideas and concerns. Partner agreement was read and discussed in detail. Some corrections (e.g. date), and adjustments, were maid to the Article 4 and Article 5. Dr. Josefina Turlo presented that Articles should be left out from the Agreement. However, after discussions, a joint resolution was to sustain the Articles in the Agreement. No voting was needed. 7 Visit to the Teachers' Training school of Jyväskylä University M.Sc. Pekka Parkkinen and Dr. Liisa Kyyrönen arranged a visit to the Teacher Training School of Jyväskylä University. The School building was introduced and visitors were able to participate to a physics lesson carried out by a teacher trainee. Discussion about the content of the lesson, as well as, the organization of the teaching and learning was held. Visitors were able to participate to the feedback discussion organized for the teacher trainer and the trainee. Visitors are asked to write short memorandum about the visit. 8 Visits to the Physics and the Chemistry Departments of Jyväskylä University: Visitors were conveyed Chemistry and Physics Departments after the visit to the Training School Dr. Jouni Välisaari presented the Chemistry Teacher Training, Professor Henrik Kunttu the Nano Science Centre and Dr. Juha Merikoski the Physics Department, respectively. Visitors are asked to write short memorandum about the visit. 9 Visit to the Teachers' Training school of Helsinki University M.Sc. Timo Kärkkäinen told about a new video project that is going on in Helsinki University. He also showed a video he had made during a physics lesson given by a trainee. The participants discussed about their practices to give video feedback to trainees. The visitors listened a lesson where a trainee was teaching English at the lower secondary school.
6 10 Visit to the chemistry and physics departments of Helsinki University The leader of Physics Teacher Education Unit, professor Heimo Saarikko told about the new Kumpula Campus and physics teacher education there. The visitors were very interested in his presentation and the discussion was vivid. In the school laboratory of the department, university lecturer of didactical physics, PhD Ari Hämäläinen explained experimentation carried by future teachers. In the Department of Chemistry Research Assistant Elina Nurminen introduced to the visitors the Centre for Chemistry Education, which has subject-matter responsibility in preparing teachers of chemistry and elementary teachers, conducting research in chemical education. The day ended with a visit in Heureka, the Finnish Science Centre, guided by dr. Hannu Salmi. 11 Next meeting: Next meeting will be arranged at Plodiv University, Bulgaria, on March The contact person for the next meeting is the National Coordinator for Bulgaria, Assistant Professor Zhelyazka Raykova. 12 Closing of the first meeting.
