Routing of calls from a similar menu can also allow for them to be directed to specific mailboxes or extensions, or to additional submenus. The auto attendant feature eliminates the requirement of having a person as the first line of interaction for incoming callers. Instead of having a person fill the position of transferring calls to various destinations, companies can instead spend that freed salary on hiring a body with more mission-critical responsibilities that cannot be automated.
