2 Dear Colleagues and Friends, We would like to invite you to the LIDC Congress 2014 that will take place in Turin on September The Italian Group is honoured to host this important annual LIDC event in Turin, a city rich in art, culture, sport, science and economics. In close co-operation with our colleagues from the LIDC Council, the Bureau and the Scientific Committee, we have prepared a programme focusing on hot topics of competition law which will be introduced and discussed by reputable specialists in the field in the form of sessions and panel discussions. We took a great effort to prepare a favourable ambience for fruitful exchange of knowledge that has been always typical of the LIDC meetings. We also hope that the congress provides the opportunity of bringing together the worlds of law and business with the representatives of state and EU authorities in order to discuss the most topical issues. Last but not least, we would like you to experience the Baroque elegance of this royal historical capital and technological centre. 9 INFORMATION Turin has over 2,000 years of history behind it: a great past that lives by looking to the future. The first grand capital of the House of Savoy becoming later the first capital of the Kingdom of Italy, it is also regarded as one of the European capitals of the Baroque style, the automobile, chocolate. A royal historical capital and technological centre, it is a fascinating and unexpected city. The automotive industry was born here, together with electricity, aeronautics, the cinema and radio, as well as some of the most famous brands in the world: Lavazza, Ferrero, Martini and Carpano. The originality of Turin is therefore to be found in its capacity to combine tradition and innovation, experience and experimentation and to present itself as a dynamic reality, a sort of laboratory, active in the world of art, culture, sport, science and work. Today, Turin is a reality committed to a modernization process that is unique in the Italian panorama. CONGRESS VENUE The working sessions will take place at the Hotel Principi di Piemonte - Via Piero Gobetti, 15 Turin ( events@principidipiemonte.com). LANGUAGES English, French and Italian are the official working languages of the Congress. There will be simultaneous translation into English, French and Italian. GETTING TO TURIN Turin can easily be reached: By plane: The Sandro Pertini International airport is just 16 km from the city. Shuttle buses link the Airport to the city, along with a railway line and taxi service. You can also reach Turin from Malpensa Airport, although it is more than 100 km away. The Sandro Pertini Airport is linked to the city of Turin by a shuttle bus service, which takes you to Porta Susa Station and Porta Nuova Station in approximately 40 minutes. The first bus leaves early in the morning and the last one leaves at around midnight. The shuttle bus stop is opposite the exit of the domestic and European flight Arrivals hall. The bus stops at the Porta Nuova railway station on the corner of via Sacchi. Other buses link the airport to Porta Susa Station. The Sandro Pertini airport is also an important stop for international flights which link the Piedmontese capital with some other foreign cities, such as Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona,

10 Brussels, Casablanca, Krakow, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, London Gatwick, London Luton, London Stansted, Luxembourg, Madrid, Munich, Oslo, Paris-CDG, Stuttgart, Timisoara, Tirana and Vienna. By train: The city of Turin is well connected to an extensive network of junctions. The city has four stations, distributed through various parts of the city. The main stations are: Porta Nuova - Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, 53 Connections to: Rome, Milan, Genova, Florence, Bologne, Venice, France Porta Susa Piazza XXVII Dicembre, 8 Connections to: Rome, Milan, Florence, Bologne, Venice, Spain, France (TGV) By car: Turin is easily accessible to and from Europe. Here is a list of motorways linked to the city of Turin and which connect it to other italian cities. A4 (Turin-Milan), A5 (Turin-Ivrea), A6 (Turin- Savona), A21 (Turin-Piacenza). Turin also has links to France through important passes. The A32 motorway links the city to Fréjus Tunnel. In addition, there are also the Grand Saint Bernard and Mont Blanc Tunnels. INSURANCE The registration fee does not include insurance. We recommend that you be adequately insured. CLIMATE The weather in September is relatively mild. It is possible however that the temperature may drop slightly especially in the evening, while remaining mild. DRESS CODE During the working sessions of the Congress business attire is suggested. For the Gala Dinner black tie and casual dress for the excursions. HOTELS Participants of the Congress are entitled to special room rates in the hotels indicated herein. The magnificent Gallery of Diana, the Citrus Orchard, the Royal Stables and the Chapel of St. Hubert, all famous operas by Filippo Juvarra ( ), make up the so-called Turinese Versailles. It is a vast complex of extraordinary beauty stretched out on 480,000 sqm., in perfect harmony with the surrounding village and park.
