With fewer distractions, the reality of loss seeps into places we didn t know existed. People around us ease back into their routine. It s hard to imagine how anyone could think clearly or even care about the many things that need to be taken care of following a funeral. That s where FAMILY CARE steps in. We offer Family Care because we know it makes a difference to families who have entrusted us with their loss. A trained Family Care counselor helps you begin the healing process by providing valuable hands-on assistance with many of the tasks (large and small) that must be dealt with. Here is what you can expect from FAMILY CARE: Beneficiary changes, bank account updates and timely insurance claims are among the most pressing matters facing a survivor, and may impact your financial wellbeing. Some things, left undone, have the potential to complicate your life if not addressed in a timely manner. Want us to make phone calls? Need us to get a claim in the works? That s what we ll do. And if you re not sure where to start, we ll help you determine a plan of action. We provide a record of every phone call made on your behalf, including promises from forms in the mail to answers that are in the works will be noted for your reference. Follow-up too We promise future help, such as filling out forms, so you can be assured we will check in with you periodically. This is a complimentary service of the funeral home. We feel it is important for you to have a clear understanding of the services and merchandise and their costs as offered by our Funeral Home in order to assist you in making final decisions about funeral arrangements that are appropriate for you and your family. Funeral services can be prearranged and prepaid. Whereas prepayment is not appropriate in all situations, it is generally beneficial for all to discuss funeral arrangements before they are needed and understand the options that are available. We are willing to discuss any arrangements with you and your family at a convenient time and location. Trust: You may pay the money directly to us and we will place it in trust, where it will accrue interest until the contract is fulfilled (when the services and supplies are delivered) or the contract is cancelled. Trusting is limited in payment terms and the interest rates may vary throughout the life of the trust fund. Insurance: You may purchase an insurance contract where the proceeds of the insurance contract will be used to pay for the services or supplies at the time they are delivered or the contract is cancelled. Insurance products offer a greater flexibility for payment terms, a life insurance on payment plans, and fixed interest rate for the life of the plan.

Coordinating Rites and Ceremonies Co-ordination of all rites and ceremonies, before, during and after they have been provided, including services and supplies provided by us, as well as those provided by third party suppliers, such as flowers and death notices. Documentation Completion and filing of all documents necessary to carry out the services and supplies requested, including, but not limited to, death registration, burial permit, coroner s certificate for cremation, documentation necessary to ship the body out of the country. As part of this service, we will provide you with proof of death certificates; such certificates are usually accepted for most estate settlement purposes, but sometimes a provincial Death Certificate will be necessary and is available from the Office of the Registrar General. Transport Remains Basic Transportation of the remains from one place to another, for example the hospital to our premises, or from our premises to the cemetery or crematorium using a transfer vehicle, for distances not exceeding 50 km. Basic Preparation The preparation of the body for placement into the casket, including bathing, dressing and the setting of facial features for identification or viewing without embalming. Embalming Embalming is the process of replacing blood and bodily fluids with chemical preservatives. It is a process of sanitation, restoration and temporary preservation. Embalming is not legally required, but may be recommended to preserve the body between the time of death and the visitation or disposition of the deceased. Our professional funeral directors will make a recommendation based on the condition of the body and expected service needs. Staff Services Visitation (On-site/Off-site) Staff to coordinate and oversee the Visitation (informal gathering) at our premises. If the visitation takes place at an off-site location, an equipment charge and additional staff services charges will apply in lieu of facility fees. > continued...
