4 TRAMP Project The TRAMP project (Telecontrollo del Rischio nell'autotrasporto di Merci Pericolose - Remote Hazard Control in Road Transportation of Dangerous Materials) Supported by the Italian Civil Protection Department as Research Group for transport management and road safety Phase 1: general architecture, Phase 2: prototype of the TRAMP System.

5 TRAMP: Objectives To allow the public authority in charge of the realization and management of the Control and Coordination Centre to reach the following results: to know in real time the number, position and behavior of the vehicles; to be promptly informed about the coming out of possible hazard conditions; to act quickly and correctly in case of any accident; to provide the transportation operators with updated information

7 TRAMP: Risk Mitigation Actions for risk mitigation (1/2) the preventive risk analysis of each single transportation activity and the planning of travels, by assigning each travel to the route that minimizes the risk of accident (probability and consequences); Monitoring (real time) of the vehicle and the transported load during the whole travel; the activation of suitable rescue procedures to be adopted in case of an accident.

10 TRAMP: Equipment The TRAMP System Prototype equipment: a localization system (GPS); sensors to control the status of the load by measuring some characteristic parameters; information to be sent to a on-board control unit recording the information; a deceleration sensor; an inclinometer (anomalous inclinations); telecommunication devices for remote data exchange (position and alarms).

19 SNSTMP Project Test exercise with around 100 vehicles transporting hazardous material in Lombardy equipped with sensors and technologies able to inform the Control Centre about their position on the road network, their speed, the quantity and status of transported material, (warning of the operators in case of anomalies/emergencies). These information are matched with the Risk Analysis results

21 SNSTMP: Emergency Management (alerts) Emergency event: sudden deceleration or inclination of the vehicle Possible Emergency event: excessive speed of the vehicle, excessive temperature of braking system, anomalous parameters of the load (temp., pressure), events indicated by the driver Approaching of sensible stretches (interruptions, tunnels, bad weather) Approaching of congested links or presence of other dangerous goods (infomobility services)
