2.8. EM24 DIN Energy Analyser Multiplexer (transmission of counter values) with EM24 Function: Control and transfer of counter values Application: Registration of energy and operating hours etc. Setup thorugh the menu Edit, Counter and Mux Analog Setup The counter channels with the sum sign are for transmission of counter values. This multiplex transmission of up to 128 counter values is possible in a network of EM24. The range of values to be transmitted must be chosen in the Basic setup through the option Counter range as 0, B to F groups are reserved, whereby the Multiplex system is started. Hint: The reserved addresses must not be used for other purposes, eg to output switch commands. There are no further configuration possibilities in the Configuration software - addressing of the channels as well as transmission and saving of data is carried out automatically by the Mastergenerator. EM24 configuration Detection of the counter values requires correct setting of the EM24. It is also necessary to assign an address to each counter of EM24 through its programming procedure. In EM24: dup Cnt is the number of counters transmitted by the EM24 itself; Adr Cnt is the address of the first multiplexer of the EM24; dup Cnt.m (m=1,..., 6) is the selected counter (e.g. total kwh ); res Cnt enables or disables the reset feature of all the counters of the EM24. Data format The used data format is 8 digit BCD. Counter value output Access to and output of the stored counter values is only done through the Modbus communication interface of the Mastergenerator. There are basically 3 possibilities of continued processing: 1. Representing the values in visualization software or operator panel (eg on a PC with the Dupline-online server software). 2. Through communication programmes, eg the Dupline DDE Server - an open software interface to for example Microsoft Office applications. 3. Individual reset of counter values. Simultaneous operation with Multiplex Analog Value Transmission in EM24 The transmission channels of the analog variables of EM24 are set so that they do not overlap the channels of the counter value transmission. Read the following chapter Multiplexer (Transmission of analog values) with EM24.
Parameter (Detection of counter values) Counter range With this setting made under <Edit><Counter And Mux Analog Setup>, you select the range of counter values. It must be selected as follows: Counter ranges Reserved groups B..F No. of Counter values Defines how many Counter values are to be transmitted on the Dupline network. The default value is set to 128 counter values, however the real no. of values should be entered, to generally reduce the update-time. Disable Reset by Dupline Select this option, to prevent accidential reset of the EM24 counters. Address B1, may be used for resetting ALL counters in the EM24 whose res cnt parameter is enabled. Application Example On a camping site, 63 energy values are to be detected and used on a PC for the issue of invoices from 21 EM24 energy analyzers. The EM24 s are built into the local power cabinets. The Mastergenerator is configured to 8 digits, occupying addresses from B1 to F8. Through the DDE server software, an application is built in a spread-sheet software, where the individual counters may be reset, when new guests arrive. The voltage of the individual power outlet is turned on from the PC through a relay module. Free channels are used for this purpose. The applied Mastergenerator can, of course, also perform additional automation functions. Object Function Channel In-/outputs Counter input Detection of B1..F8 impulses from energy counter Relay output Switching power G1..N8 outlets Configuration Counter range Channels for B1..F8 counter values Toggle switch function Switches for power G1..N8
Multiplexer (transmission of analog values) Function: Object for detection of max. 80 analog values Application: Fast transmission of multiplexed analog values through EM24 Configuration under the option Multiplexer channels in the Basic setup In connection with the configuration of the multiplexer in the Basic setup (Options Multiplexer Count and Multiplexer delay), the Configuration software automatically reserves four channels (A1..A4) for addressing the modules. The addressing on these channels is performed automatically by the Mastergenerator. Data is transferred on two consecutive address groups (G/H, I/J, D/L, M/N and O/P) according to the table. Analogue variables Multiplexer value Used groups 0 to 15 0 to 15 G - H 16 to 31 0 to 15 I - J 32 to 47 0 to 15 K - L 48 to 63 0 to 15 M - N 64 to 80 0 to 15 O - P Note: All the channels of the used groups must be set as push-buttons Also when the number is limited to 16 because only four channels have been reserved, 80 values can actually be processed. This is possible because up to 5 analog channels receive the same binary address, but subsequently transmit the values to different channel groups (see above). Note: The reserved addresses must not be used for other purposes, eg to output switch commands. EM24 configuration Transmission of analog values requires correct setting of the EM24. It is also necessary to assign an address to each analogue variable of EM24 through its programming procedure. In EM24: dup. Ana is the number of analogue values transmitted by the EM24 itself; Adr. ana is the address of the first multiplexed analogue value of the EM24; dup. Ana.m (m=1,..., 8 ) is the selected analogue variable (e.g. voltage line 1-2). Data format The data format is 3 1/2 digit BCD. Within the two channel groups (in this case G and H), the value 1957 is generated continuously. Signal availabe Value valid Sign Value in thousands Time Value in hundreds Value in tens Single-digit value Channel G1 G2 G3 G4 G5 G6 G7 G8 H1 H2 H3 H4 H5 H6 H7 H8 Factor Example: Channel state: Value Signal available means that an EM24 continuously provides the value Value valid indicates that the value is valid An 0 stands for a positive value An 1 stands for a negative value
Simultaneous operation with transmission of multiplex analog values The transmission channels of the analog values of EM24 are set so that they do not overlap the channels of the counter value transmission. Read the preceding chapter Multiplexer (Transmission of counter values) with EM24. Working with test unit GTU8 GTU8 makes it easy to read out and simulate analog values of this format (operation mode Analog BCD). In the case of simulation, care should be taken that both the bit Signal available and the validity bit have been set (see above). Parameter Multiplexer (Transmisison of analog values) Multiplex counts When EM24 is used, this value should always be set to 16. Multiplex delay Normally, this value should be set to 1. However, if Private LIne modems G are used, the multiplex delay should be set to 8 in order to compensate for the delay in the modems.
Function of Channel A5 in EM24 (push-button) Function: Monostable (push-button) Application: Connection of digital signals for EM24 dmd syncronization or EM24 tariff management Also Normally Closed function According to the dup in parameter in EM24, the channel A5 can assume the following purposes: - Syncronization of the dmd calculation ( sync selection) - Tariff management ( tar selection) - No function ( no selection): in this case A5 can be used for any purposes Time characteristics Application Example 1 The EM24 dmd calculation must be performed by the digital output of the official kwh-meter. Use for example the universal input module to provide the input signal and configure one of the inputs for address A5. Configure channel A5 in the Master generator as a push-button function. Finally, configure dup in parameters in EM24 as Sync. Object Function Channel In-/outputs EM24 Synchro A5 Input module Synchro A5 Configuration Push-button function Synchro A5 Note: If no "synchro" signal is available, a timer function (see 2.2.4) can be assigned to channel 15. Application Example 2 The EM24 must manage a dmdl tariff energy metering. Using the real-time function (see 2.2.5) can let channel A5 change its status according to the tariff schedule. Configure dup. in parameter in EM24 as tar. Note: If a digital signal is available to define the active tariff, a push-button function can be assigned to channel A5.
EM24 Alarms Function: Monostable (push-button) Application: Connection of contacts for load switching or warning signals due to EM24 alarm management Also Normally Closed function According to the dup out parameters in EM24, 2 channels per EM24 can be dedicated to the retransmission of setpoint alarms. The alarm characteristics (linked variable, activation and deactivating setpoints, delay on activation) must be set in EM24 through its programming procedure. Time characteristics Application Example A lamp is to be switched on and off according to the value of the consumed power measured by EM24. Use for example one of the alarms of EM24 to provide the input signal and configure the relevant channel to P8. Assign the same address to one of the outputs of a relay module. Finally, configure channel P8 in the Master generator as a push-button function. Object Function Channel In-/outputs Relay output Lamp P8 EM24 Alarm P8 Configuration Push-button function Light control P8
