2 POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides oversight and leadership of the Potter s House residential recovery program, New Start transitional living program, farm operations and related on-site industries. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master s degree in counseling, social work, marriage/family therapy, psychology or a related field required. Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker strongly preferred. Licensed Associate Professional Counseling or Licensed Master of Social Work required. Must have at least 5 years counseling or social work experience, ideally within an addiction recovery program and nonprofit/ Christian ministry environment. CERTIFICATION OR LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker strongly preferred. Leadership: a. Provides leadership for counseling, administrative, farm and/or industry staff and interns; b. Coaches, develops and trains assigned team to effectively execute programs that provide quality services to all we serve; c. Provides effective operational, administrative and clinical oversight of assigned team; d. Participates as key member of the Men s Services leadership team; e. Ensures effective collaboration with other Atlanta Mission ministry centers and programs to maximize the success of Atlanta Mission programs and continuum of care. Collaborates well with other teams within Atlanta Mission, avoids silo-thinking and leads team to collaborate; f. Communicates effectively with team and others throughout Atlanta Mission; 2. Program Operations Management: a. Oversees the development and/or delivery of programs, counseling and case management services delivered in accordance with design model and that effectively meets the needs of clients;

3 b. Ensures the effective execution of program design as developed by the design team. c. Provides feedback to design team. Assists design team as requested in design/redesign of programs; d. Ensures staff provides quality services, thorough assessment, proper case management and appropriate documentation/recordkeeping; e. Provides input into the development of and achievement of Atlanta Mission s goals, objectives and target outcomes; f. Keeps abreast of trends and changes in field of ministry and makes necessary recommendations to design team; g. Effectively reports legal/ethical concerns and ensures staff compliance with legal/ethical issues; h. Ensures a safe, clean and healthy environment for clients, staff, partners and visitors; i. Ensures appropriate client supervision and participation in program activities 3. Vocational Training/Task Management: a. Evaluates task assignment for clients and develops plan that effectively utilizes task assignments to support the operation of the Mission and to provide relevant vocational training for clients; 4. Industry Management: a. Evaluates program-related industries and develops plan that effectively utilizes industries to support the operation of the Mission, to provide relevant vocational training for clients and to provide employment opportunities for qualified program graduates; 5. Financial and Data Recordkeeping: a. Prepares monthly statistical reports and narrative reports for leadership as requested/required; b. Provides input into the preparation of the program operational budget; c. Monitors expenditures and ensures appropriate use of resources within budget framework; d. Ensures proper stewardship of Atlanta Mission equipment, facilities and resources; e. Gathers, analyzes and summarizes any required client and/or staff data; f. Evaluates program effectiveness by interpreting reports and other data to make recommendations for program improvements; 6. Legal, Ethical and Professional Growth Issues: a. Follows all laws, regulations, codes of conduct/ethics governing the client/counselor relationship; b. Adheres to the Code of Ethics for counselors, which establishes standards for the relationship between clients/counselors; c. Participates in training activities to maintain certification/licenses and to ensure an appropriate level of continuing education/professional development; d. Conducts self according to the highest ethical standards in accordance with the policies of Atlanta Mission; 7. Other: a. Provides clinical supervision of interns (depending upon licensure achieved); b. Ensures compliance with all Atlanta Mission policies, procedures and processes; c. Assists with Atlanta Mission special events, public relations and development efforts, including providing campus tours, speaking engagements, participation with outside agencies, meeting with partners and other groups; d. Works effectively with Atlanta Mission partners and creates an environment in which the staff effectively partners with volunteers and groups to achieve the vision, goals, objectives

4 and targeted outcomes of Atlanta Mission; e. Networks and collaborates with other service providers, the Christian community, and partners to promote the enhancement of quality services to clients; f. Ensures appropriate and productive interaction/communication among program staff, other members of the Atlanta Mission team and external resources. Returns calls/ s and other communications in a timely fashion; g. Diffuses and avoids conflicts with other staff members, partners, visitors and clients. Utilizes appropriate conflict resolution techniques when relating to clients. h. Fosters teamwork environment, working cross-functionally and collaboratively as needed. Secondary Job Functions: 1. May provide assessment, admissions, counseling, case management and other direct services to clients (refer to counselor job description for list of duties) as needed to ensure all clients needs are met; 2. Participates in leadership development opportunities, professional associations and other training as required; 3. Prepares for and participates in designated staff meetings and other Atlanta Mission functions; 4. Provides back-up assistance to other members of campus team and/or Mission-wide as needed; 5. Coordinates with and demonstrates support of campus team and Partner Services Manager in the scheduling of partner events and/or other special events; 6. May drive Mission vehicles as needed; 7. Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPENTENCIES: Education: 1. Master s degree in counseling, social work, marriage/family therapy, psychology, or a related field required. 2. Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker strongly preferred. Licensed Associate Professional Counseling or Licensed Master of Social Work required. Manage one s own time (without direct supervision) to maximum advantage on a day-to-day basis; c. Think strategically and to link campus initiatives to Mission-wide vision and objectives; d. Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others; e. Respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and/or complaints; f. Be self-directed and creative; g. Contribute to and implement tactical plans related to business plans set by the Director- Men s Services and EVP-Programs. Must possess the ability to manage multiple priorities and plan over multiple years;

5 h. Respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints; i. Read, write, speak and understand English; 2. Must have: a. Extensive working, experience-based knowledge of the addiction recovery, counseling, and/or social work field; b. Christian Faith: i. Strong Christian leadership qualities with a deep and personal love for Christ and God s children; ii. Dedication to serving others and a mindset of servant leadership as an outpouring of a strong sense of faith; iii. A calling to ministry work and sincere heart s desire to improve the lives of clients affected by addiction and life controlling issues; iv. Biblical insight; v. Spiritual gift of discernment; c. Relationship/Communication Skills: i. Strong relational skills ability to reach people from all walks of life and be an active advocate for clients; ii. Demonstrated track record of dealing with difficult and challenging people in a teaching, pastoral, ministerial, counseling or other related capacity (5+ years experience strongly preferred); iii. Excellent listening skills and the ability to draw out information from clients who may be guarded regarding thoughts and emotions; iv. A teachable spirit ability to learn from others; v. A team player attitude and approach; vi. Ability to genuinely relate to clients; vii. Effective written and verbal communication skills; viii. Willingness to serve as a role model for clients and other staff; ix. Effective conflict resolution skills; x. A sincere desire to see others succeed and excel; xi. Ability to see and believe in others potential while maintaining but not focusing on their current state; d. Teaching/Facilitation Skills: i. Proven ability to effectively teach/facilitate a class of adult learners; ii. Strong belief in a Christ-centered recovery and discipleship model; e. Job Skills: i. A deep understanding of homelessness and addiction recovery; ii. Licensure in counseling and/or social work is strongly preferred; iii. A proven ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment; f. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to research and prepare written studies and directives in a clear and concise manner and the ability to prepare and present oral briefings, proposals, and general information. Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex legal documents. g. Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the demonstrated ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with employees (at all levels of the organization), partners and others in a team-oriented environment. Outstanding conflict resolution skills required. h. Excellent organizational and project management skills;

Strong computer literacy, including MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; 3. Must have a valid Georgia driver s license and a good driving record; 4. Willingness to travel in the metro Atlanta area (downtown and North Atlanta) and Northeast Georgia (Athens metro); 5. Must be a good educator, and must be trustworthy, willing to share information when appropriate and serve as a mentor; 6. Must be dedicated to the mission, ministry, and core values of the Atlanta Mission. 7.
