2 The NJCAA, Iowa Central Community College, and the community of Fort Dodge welcome you to the Division I National Cross Country Meet. We strongly recommend the following: 1. Read ALL of the information included in this packet. 2. Register as early as possible. 3. Meet all deadlines. 4. Make hotel, plane and rental car reservations as early as possible. The closest major airports to Fort Dodge (FOD) are Des Moines (DSM), Omaha, NE (OMA); and Minneapolis, MN (MSP). There is a small airport in Fort Dodge that flies only to and from Minneapolis. There are connections to all other major airports from Minneapolis. 5. To ensure the availability of t-shirts and hooded-sweatshirts, please submit the attached preorder form. There will be a limited number of shirts available on race day. Willow Ridge is located at 1788 Madison Avenue. It is between the college and the race course. It is imperative that all deadlines are met. It may be necessary to forward information before you qualify for the championship. We ask coaches and Athletic Directors to assist us in making the deadlines. Thank you.

4 MEET INFORMATION Race Site: Lakeside Municipal Golf Course 1417 Nelson Ave; Fort Dodge, IA College Address (Banquet): 1 Triton Circle; Fort Dodge, IA Coaches Meeting/Luncheon: 1788 Madison Avenue SCHEDULE OF EVENTS Course will be open for inspection: Thursday, November 7 from Noon to 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, :00 p.m. - Packet pick-up, final declaration, Head Coaches Meeting, and Luncheon at Willow Ridge Country Club; 1788 Madison Avenue. 6:30 p.m. - National Meet Banquet and Program on Iowa Central Campus in the Triton Café. (Reservations Required/ $10.00 per person) Saturday, November 9, :40 a.m. National Anthem & Flag Ceremony 10:45 a.m. First call for Men s Race (must report to box and be checked in with Clerk of Course) 11:00 a.m. Men s 8K Race 11:45 a.m. First call for Women s Race (must report to box and be checked in with Clerk of Course) Noon Women s 5K Race 1:30 p.m. Awards at the back of the clubhouse (per NJCAA Handbook) Race Course/Description: Both the men s and women s course will run on a flat to rolling terrain. This is the same site and course as the Iowa High School State Cross Country Meet. Women are running the high school boy s 5k course and men are running two loops of the high school girl s 4k course. Course Markings: The course will be double-lined with white paint, and pennant flags on all inside turns. A lead vehicle will guide the runners over the course and a trail vehicle with an athletic trainer will follow. Starting Line: The starting line will be on the fairway and will be open for the first 500 Meters.

5 Box Assignments: Team and individual box assignments will be assigned by random draw. Assignments will be in your packet. Entries/Entry Fee: Final entries will be done online at no later than November, 5 at 1:00 pm EST. Per NJCAA Handbook - Each college shall pay its own team expenses. The entry fee is $20.00 per runner, per gender; not to exceed $200 per team, per gender. Entry fee must be paid at registration when you pick up your team packet. Participation will not be allowed until entry fee is paid. Team Areas: The team area will be located on the open lawn between the start and finish lines. Make sure your athletes clean up after themselves before you leave. Thank you! Parking: Spectators should follow the directions of the parking officials; there will be a charge of $10 per vehicle. All team vehicles/buses will be issued parking permits at the coaches meeting and directed to their designated lots. Team cars and vans will park at the clubhouse; team buses will be parked in an adjoining lot. Friday Night Banquet The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Triton Café on the Iowa Central Campus. It will consist of a 30 minute program for the athletes and coaches that will include an introduction of teams and a slide show. Please encourage your athletes to dress up for this event. The cost is $10 per individual (All you can eat pasta, salad, drinks, and dessert.) RSVP required by October 18, All teams are encouraged to attend. Athletic Trainer: Certified Athletic Trainers will be available on site approximately 1 hour prior to the start of the first race. Any athlete who wishes to receive help with taping must bring their own supplies. Contact information for the ATC can be found above. Championship Apparel and Souvenirs: Championship apparel and souvenirs will be made available by pre-order, a limited supply will be sold on race day at the course. See the attached form at the end of the packet. TOURNAMENT & COACHES ASSOCIATION MEETING: A meeting for all Head Coaches will take place on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Willow Ridge Country Club. This is a mandatory meeting for all head coaches which will also include registration, packet pick-up and a meal.

6 NJCAA Cross Country Rules and Officials NCAA Cross Country Rules shall be followed with whatever changes or modifications deemed necessary by the NJCAA Committee on Cross Country. Meet Times There shall be 30 minutes between men s race and women s race. Jury of Appeals Members are the NJCAA Representative/Designee, the championship/meet director, and a person appointed by the other two members, not to be a coach in the meet. Squad Size Participating teams are defined as and limited to a maximum of seven runners with a minimum of five runners in uniform. There should be no delay of a contest to allow a competing institution to conform to this policy. Any violations shall automatically result in the disqualification of the institution(s) in violation. No member institution may run athletes as individuals if they have also entered as a team. Box Assignments Team and individual box assignments will be assigned by random draw. Assignments will be in your coach s packet. Code of Conduct All coaches, athletes, and support personnel are expected to be familiar with and follow the NJCAA Code of Conduct. This Code may be found under Article XIX of the NJCAA bylaws. Open Wound Policy Under circumstances when constant or profuse bleeding occurs, the participant shall be immediately removed from that contest by the official and cannot return until the bleeding has been stopped. Substance Abuse The use of all tobacco products by any coach, player, official or other individual involved in the conducting of any NJCAA sponsored regular season or postseason play is prohibited within the confines of the playing area. Any individual not in compliance shall be disqualified from further participation in that contest. Promotions Only the official tournament vendors will be allowed to sell merchandise or services. No other group or product may be promoted. Results and Official Stats Results will be available for inspection at the awards ceremony following the event and will also be available online at Awards Ceremony The awards ceremonies will take place at 1:30 p.m., following the conclusion of the women s race. Awards will be given as per NJCAA guidelines.

7 Wayzata Results, Inc. Online Entry System (XC) Go to: 1) Create an account. Click the "continue sign-up" button on the login page. Please note if you had an account last year you will need to re-register again! 2) Create your rosters. Click the male/female roster icons under the "Your Rosters" heading. After you have entered your athletes, click "save changes". Then click the "return to main page" link. 3) Sign up for meets. Click the male/female icons to the left of the meets NJCAA Division 1 Cross Country National Championships After you've selected which athletes will be attending the meet, click "save changes". **You may enter up to 10 athletes per gender. A maximum of two athletes may be HS +3 athletes from your eligibility roster. 4) Note the date and time that your online entry deadline is! (TIMES ARE EASTERN TIME).
