Cardiff Law School National Health Service Continuing Healthcare Scheme The NHS Continuing Healthcare Scheme addree the nationwide problem of aement for NHS continuing healthcare funding. Problem in thi area mainly affect eriouly ill patient, often elderly, in nuring home, but can alo apply if a peron need nuring care at home. We are the only Law School in the UK that run a pecialit legal advice clinic dealing with thi niche area of law and practice, and our cheme i recognied by the Alzheimer Society and organiation that ait the elderly. We are upervied by the larget law firm in Wale, Hugh Jame Solicitor, and our work won the Student Team Award at the pretigiou Law Society Junior Lawyer Diviion 10th Anniverary Pro Bono Award. Cardiff Law School Innocence Project Our tudent work under the uperviion of practiing olicitor and barriter on cae of long-term prioner maintaining their innocence of eriou crime for which they have been convicted. We have ucceeded in ubmitting ix cae to the Criminal Cae Review Commiion, the independent body that review poible micarriage of jutice. Other Scheme Recently we piloted a training programme with Aylum Jutice, training tudent to become aylum advior accredited by the Office of the Immigration Service Commiioner. Other partnerhip initiative have included opportunitie to: volunteer with The Peronal Support Unit at the Civil Jutice Centre in Cardiff, become Appropriate Adult with the leading mental health charity, Hafal, and to be on a call rota to ait at local police tation. WRU Project From September 2012, working in partnerhip with the Welh Rugby Union, our tudent will provide a free legal advice ervice to Welh rugby club. The Scheme will be upported and underwritten by major law firm and barriter chamber with a bae in Cardiff.
