These programmes provide you with clear routes into a range of prestigious MA and MSc programmes across the College. The first year functions as a type of pre-master s programme and leads directly into your master s programme in year two. These new programmes offer you a unique opportunity to take an integrated approach to your master s study. They combine study in your academic area with an explicit focus on developing your academic English, analytical and research skills over two years. These programmes are taught jointly by School and English Language Centre (ELC) academics. The ELC is accredited by the British Council. The 2009 inspection awarded the ELC points of excellence in six general categories, the highest score achieved across all Colleges in the University of London. These programmes are suitable for you if you want to study your master s at King s and develop your subject, English and critical thinking skills. We are looking for a background which demonstrates excellent academic potential and will consider applications from students with a non-social science background. I took this programme as I knew the War Studies MA is very popular and a competitive entry programme. This programme has been very useful in helping me improve my academic English and subject knowledge in preparation for my MA. All the tutors were very supportive throughout the programme.
