Welcome Participants of the meeting are welcomed by Lucía García, Vice Dean for International Relations at the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, and by Silvia Abella, Vice Director for International Relations at the School of Business. 3. Start of the Meeting The meeting is opened by Pius Muff. Minutes of the Meeting 2007 The minutes of the 2007 meeting in Madrid are approved as submitted. 5. Information Update by Partner Institutions (in the order of their appearance) Universidad de Zaragoza Possible merger of three Schools of Business upcoming. Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia Courses to be restructured and/or merged in view of 2009/10 (6 to 9-credit modules instead of current 4-credit modules) Fachhochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin Reduction from five to two campuses (engineering and economics) from 2009/10 Increase in English-language courses (up to 2 from 1) Increase in Master programmes (up to 8 from 4) University of Huddersfield No changes to be reported. Hochschule Pforzheim Introduction of Dr. Kerstin Bremser: Professor for International Business and responsible for relations with Spanish-language universities. ISP with further specialisations under way Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften (ZHAW) Banking and Finance offered in English 2 new Master Programmes: Banking and Finance, Business Administration with Marketing Applications for housing to be submitted as early as possible

3 Universidad CEU San Pablo Madrid Implementation of Bologna Reform in 2009/10 Centre for the Orientation and Information of Employment to be opened for international students (placements) on certain conditions; if interested, please submit recommendation(s) to Marina ESCE Only 5-year Master degrees on offer (no Bachelor degrees) New campus in Brazil (in addition to China and Mexico) International Week from 28 to 30 June 2009 Molde University College Master programme in Sports Management in the pipeline (in Norwegian) Master cooperation with Metz and Westminster Possibility of doctorate in logistics (open to students of all countries) University of Westminster New Vice-Chancellor, Geoffrey Petts, has decided to merge Westminster Business School and Harrow Business School, retaining the name Westminster Business School. VC has also decided to reduce the number of teaching weeks from 12 to 10 per semester. New Dean, Jean Woodall, from 1 August partners: new partnerships include Valencia and Uruguay. International Week to be held in February 2009, not to clash with INHOLLAND or other partners. Fachhochschule Augsburg International administration now consisting of three persons (new: Diana Wong) Incoming students may choose between diploma course and Bachelor course Central Ostrobothnia University of Applied Sciences Merger of business and engineering departments International Week presumably in week 13 INHOLLAND University 3 exchange programmes (30 credits): Tourism, International Business and Finance, International Business and Culture; transfer between programmes not advisable International Week from 9 to 12 February 2009 Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (School of Business) New: English-language BSc Business Administration with International Management & Economics (3 yrs) New: Master programmes in Finance & Banking (German), Business Administration with major in Tourism (English), Business Administration with major in Business Development and Promotion (German) Gordon Millar taking over from Pius Muff as Institutional Coordinator 6. International Accreditation Partner institutions inform each other as to whether their institutions are (going to be) internationally accredited and about the challenges of international accreditation.

4 Whereas programme accreditation is normally on a national basis, there is the possibility of international accreditation on an institutional basis. Agencies that provide world-wide recognition are e.g. AACSB (American) or EQUIS (European). Thus, Hochschule Pforzheim has had their Bachelor and Master programmes nationally accredited and is now planning for international AACSB accreditation by The evaluation process is based on 21 standards, among which criteria relating to research activities pose a major challenge. International accreditation is also under way for FHTW Berlin, while Westminster University has E- Pass Accreditation for its programmes. 7. Academic Calendars There are still major differences between academic calendars across Europe, as a comparison of contact periods shows: Spain Italy Germany beginning of October to mid-july United Kingdom 24 September to end of May (Huddersfield) 6 October to 27 March (Westminster) France beginning of September to end of June Norway mid-august to end of May Netherlands end of August to end of June Finland beginning of September to mid-may Switzerland Conclusion: Despite the Bologna reform, mobility efforts are still severely hampered by different calendars, and universities will have to continue to display a lot of flexibility in the implementation of their bilateral agreements. 8. Project CALPE Yvonne Uphoff presents the Calpe Project implemented by INHOLLAND University and FHTW Berlin. Participants are referred to the documentation distributed after the meeting. 9. Teacher Mobility Participants discuss the requirements and prerequisites for teacher mobility. Among the results presented were the following key factors for the successful implementation of teacher mobility: Sufficient student motivation for 'mobile teaching units' (relevance for examinations, inclusion in projects, prerequisite for eligibility in exchange programmes, etc.) Flexibility concerning integration of 'mobile teaching units' into regular programmes (e.g. by a rotation system for electives, even across the boundaries of academic years). Incentives for teachers (mobile teachers to rewarded rather than 'punished' in terms of compensation) Continuity and regularity of exchange activities. 10. Venue and Programme 2009

5 The 2009 meeting will take place from 22 to 23 May Pius Muff will get in touch with Roos Bellings to find out whether the provisional invitation of 2007 to Antwerp is still valid. Failing that, Birgitta Niemi holds out an invitation to Kokkola. In the meantime consultation with Roos and Birgitta has resulted in the 2009 meeting being held at the Central Ostrobothnia University of Applied Sciences in Kokkola (Finland).
