1 ...with dignity Christian Homes, Inc. (CHI) was founded in 1962 from an inspired man s dream of creating a Christian atmosphere where his loved ones could age with dignity. He and men from area churches raised the necessary funds to purchase property in Lincoln, IL where they opened the 48-bed Christian Nursing Home in When Christian leaders in other communities wanted Christian Nursing Homes in their areas, CHI began a long period of steady expansion in Memory care, short-term rehabilitation and hospice care programs were added as those needs became apparent. As senior adults began living longer and more active lives, CHI recognized the need for independent living communities. Four-plex garden homes, apartments and assisted living were added to many communities. 2 Tim Phillippe, Ph.D. President and CEO Dr. Timothy Phillippe, Ph.D., serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Christian Homes, Inc. (CHI), a role he assumed in Experienced in corporate management and pastoral ministry, Dr. Phillippe is uniquely qualified to build on the organization s history, mission and vision and to be an advocate and leader in the field of senior healthcare and senior living. Prior to coming to CHI, Dr. Phillippe had more than twenty-five years of leadership experience in the healthcare industry. Since 1985 he has had extensive experience in ministry, senior living, psychology, and mental health services. As an ordained Christian Church/Church of Christ minister with a doctorate in psychology and a master s in religion and counseling, Dr. Phillippe taught at graduate seminaries and universities in the fields of ministry, psychology, human resource management, and counseling older adults. Dr. Phillippe has served as a consultant to various national organizations and as a guest speaker at major conferences in the area of behavioral health, managed care, healthcare quality improvement and other healthcare management related topics. Dr. Phillippe regularly presents at state and national conferences on topics related to long-term care and senior living. 5 christian homes, inc. Success Story In 2010, The Christian Benevolent Association (CBA), parent organization of two continuing care retirement communities in Ohio, Mason Christian Village and Mt. Healthy Christian Village had experienced dismal results for several years. They had operated at a negative net operating income (NOI) margin. Closing seemed to be the only option. The owners needed relief and decided to bring in Christian Homes, Inc. (CHI) as the operations management company. Upon taking over management, opportunities for change were quickly identified and action plans were launched. We implemented changes that were needed to position CBA for long term success. The quality improvements were vast and included renovations, community leadership, employee morale, financial management and census development.
