1 MyOWNMcMaster Degree Pathway: Diploma in Human Resources Management & Bachelor of Arts in History Requirements The MyOWNMcMaster degree pathway has three parts: diploma, elective and undergraduate courses. Students will complete courses with both the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) and the Faculty of Humanities, Department of History. At CCE, students take the Diploma in Human Resources Management (24 units) plus elective courses (36 units). With the Department of History, students take ten undergraduate courses (30 units). The 60 units taken with the Centre for Continuing Education must be completed with a B+ cumulative average in order for students to be eligible to continue to the undergraduate courses. If a B+ cumulative average is not achieved, students may be required to apply to the Faculty of Humanities to complete the degree. Successful completion of a Business Communications course ( /450 Business Communications or /420 Effective Communication) is required prior to the start of degree studies. Upon completion of the Diploma requirements, students will receive a Diploma in Human Resources Management. Upon completion of the remaining requirements, students will receive a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. This MyOWNMcMaster pathway can be completed fully online, in-class or a combination of the two formats. Part 1: Diploma in Human Resources Management Diploma in Human Resources Management Core Courses 15 Units Required It is recommended that students begin with /401 Human Resources Management. Otherwise, courses can be completed in any order /421 Organizational Behaviour /497 Recruitment & Selection /498 Compensation /499 Labour Relations /401 Human Resources Management 3 Diploma in Human Resources Management Elective Courses 9 Units Required Students may select any 3 courses, totalling 9 units /450 Business Communications (antirequisite to /420 Effective Communication) /440 Business Finance & Accounting /447 Principles & Practices of Supervision 3 1

Do not duplicate courses already taken as part of the Diploma. Note: some courses have prerequisites. If you did not take /450 Business Communications or /420 Effective Communication, within your diploma requirements, you must take one of these courses as one of your electives.
