1 Rev AVTech H.264 Digital Video Recorder Introduction Congratulations on your purchase of the AVTech DVR from Inforce Security Corp. The AVTech DVR is a remarkably simple unit, which operates with little in the way of user intervention, only recording when there is visible motion picked up by a camera. The system is fundamentally a computer, with a very large hard drive on which the information is stored. You should expect to get at least 3 weeks of recorded images; when the hard drive fills up, it automatically overwrites the oldest images with the newest images. A typical configuration will consist of 1-4 cameras, if more then 4 cameras is required, an additional AVTech DVR must be purchased from Inforce Security Corp. Starting and Stopping The DVR Simply put, there is no need to worry about starting or stopping the DVR, as it will automatically start when power is applied. When first powered on, the operating system will load, and the DVR software loads in a live view mode. If you need to disconnect the DVR for transport, manually power off the unit first by pressing the power button on the front of the unit, then pressing the enter button to acknowledge the safety warning. After about 10 seconds, the unit will safely power down. 2 Operating the DVR: Page. 2 The default password is 0000 (simply press ENTER 4 times). If you have a monitor connected directly to the DVR you may operate the functions using the buttons on the remote control in the same way that the VideoViewer software works when connecting over a network or Internet. The DVR always defaults into the Live View mode. Below is a view of what a system may look like with a 4 camera setup. If viewing the DVR through a network, Launch the client application VideoViewer from your desktop. Once launched, double click the address of the DVR you wish to log into under the address window. VideoViewer will connect with your DVR and will display a window similar to the one below. Once in this mode, click the button at the top to full screen.

3 Full Screen View: Page. 3 Next, press the icon on the lower right hand of the screen to access the DVR controls. The control panel should appear as it does below: The full screen can view all 4 cameras simultaneously (quad), or each camera individually, or automatically cycle through each individual camera (sequencing). To full screen an individual camera, simply press the corresponding digit (i.e. 2 for camera 2) using the handheld remote or in VideoViewer software. To return to a quad camera display, press the button, or on the remote. To activate sequencing, press the button, or on the remote. To digitally zoom in, select a camera and press the button, or the Digital Zoom button on the remote. Use the directional arrows to scroll the image. Note: zoom feature ONLY works in Live View mode. To take a quick snapshot photo of a live image in VideoViewer, press the button at the middle top of the screen to expand the extra features, and then press the button. The photo will be saved into C:\temppicture directory.

4 Watching Recorded Video: Page. 4 To instantly review an event that very recently occurred, simply use the play, pause, fast forward, rewind, stop, and slow forward icons, or the corresponding buttons on the remote. The most recent recorded footage will begin playing back. To review older footage: access the list menu by pressing the list icon, or the button named List on the remote Next you will see the List dialogue box appear on the screen: Scroll down to Motion List using the up and down directional arrow buttons and then press the enter button, or on the remote. You will be able to scroll through the motion events by date, and will also reference which camera detected the motion. Select the event you wish to view by using the up and down directional buttons and then press the enter button on the event you would like to play. Playback will begin immediately. Time and date index for the video being played back will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. To stop playback and return to Live View mode, simply hit the stop button

5 To Backup to a USB Memory Stick on the DVR: Page. 5 USB memory drives must be formatted FAT32 and must have no existing files saved on them. Insert the USB memory drive into the USB port on the front panel of the DVR. Using the remote control press the DVR Menu button, or press the DVR Menu button if using the software. Then, using the directional arrow keys, scroll all the way to the bottom of the list to the USB Backup icon. Click the right arrow key so that USB Backup is highlighted, then press the enter button, or on the remote. Using the arrow keys on the remote, enter the Start and End date and time of the footage you wish to backup by scrolling to the right and using the up and down keys to change the field. Choose the camera s of interest you wish to backup under the Channel section. Using the remote, press the button to checkmark the corresponding boxes. Finally, scroll down to the START and press on the remote to begin backup. DO NOT remove the USB memory stick until the DVR has prompted that Backup has been completed successfully.

6 To Backup to a Hard Drive through a Network using VideoViewer: Page. 6 Press the Backup icon and the following dialogue box appears: You may select a single video event to backup by highlighting an event from the list on the right hand side, or you can choose to backup a range of video footage by first selecting which camera s are of interest (checkmark the Channels you want), then choosing your Start Time and End Time. Next, select the folder on your hard drive where you wish the backed up footage to be stored (default is C:\download\). Video is backed up in real-time, therefore the more video you select to backup, the longer it will take. If you wish to view the footage while the download and backup procedure takes place, checkmark the box Simultaneous Playback. Finally, press the Download button and the backup will begin.
