1 Solution Overview Cisco Collaboration Systems Release 10.6 Cisco Collaboration Systems Release Overview Cisco Collaboration Systems Release (CSR) provides a comprehensive set of infrastructure, applications, and endpoints integrated, designed, and validated to deliver a superior administrator and end-user experience. Whether deployed on premises, in the cloud, or through a hybrid model, CSRs deliver the capabilities you want, in a unified product portfolio. CSRs enable simple, productive, and cost-effective collaboration, by anyone, anywhere, on any device (Figure 1). Figure 1. Cisco Collaboration Systems Release CSR has a regular delivery cadence. Cisco Collaboration Systems Release 10.0(1) is backward compatible with Cisco Unified Communications System Releases 9.0(1) and 8.6(1). For high-level information about the Cisco Collaboration Systems, please visit: Cisco Collaboration Systems Documentation. Note: From Release 10.0 onward, Cisco Unified Communications System is rebranded as Cisco Collaboration Systems to better reflect the collaboration products included in the solution. Cisco Collaboration Systems Release 10.6 Cisco Collaboration Systems Release 10.6 builds on the capabilities of Cisco Collaboration Systems Release 10.5, which was generally available in May Cisco Collaboration Systems Release 10.6 integrates telephony, conferencing (voice, video, and web), messaging, and contact center products for customers in a variety of deployment models Cisco and/or its affiliates. 2 For information about current Cisco collaboration products that are compatible with CSR 10.6, please refer to the Cisco Collaboration Compatibility Tool. The Cisco CSR 10.6 includes these highlights: Expands collaboration beyond the desktop to mobile scenarios Makes video conferencing more consistent, intuitive, easy to use, and simple to deploy Allows collaboration beyond corporate boundaries by enabling connections with external partners, consultants, and customers Helps ensure interoperability with existing investments by using standards-based solutions Provides flexible, cost-effective deployment options New Capabilities in CSR 10.6 Some key capabilities focused on improving collaboration Infrastructure follow: Single Sign-On for Remote Users CSR 10.6 offers a secure and consistent sign-in user experience inside and outside the corporate network. Single Sign-On (SSO) for remote users is now supported by Jabber and Expressway solutions, enabling users outside the enterprise to log onto their devices without requiring a VPN connection. Touchless Install Touchless Install simplifies cluster installation using pre-setup platform configuration files, leading to improved deployment experience, better total cost of ownership (TCO), and faster time to deploy. This feature minimizes the touch points during deployment. There is no need to configure a cluster through a GUI, and no intervention is required during install. Now the installation experience is consistent across unified communications products, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity Connection. Cisco Packaged Collaboration Solutions Cisco Packaged Collaboration Solutions deliver the simple and flexible communications capabilities that companies of every size need on single, integrated, centrally managed, easily deployed platforms. Under Cisco Packaged Collaboration, several new deployment options exist, including the Cisco Business Edition 6000S (BE6000S) for small-scale communications deployments and the Cisco Business Edition 7000H (BE7000H) for large-scale collaboration deployments. Advanced File Transfer Advanced File Transfer is a Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Jabber enhancement. Required for regulatory compliance for financial and government agencies, this server-side file-transfer solution copies and logs all files transferred for file sharing between users in one-one, ad hoc group, and persistent chat scenarios. Unexpected Disconnect Unexpected disconnect for instant messaging happens when an instant messaging session is interrupted because a laptop closes or an Ethernet cable is unplugged. Cisco Unified Communications Manager can now assure delivery of a message even after the intended recipient has disconnected, as long as the recipient reconnects within a short time. Users benefit from this feature through positive verification that messages were delivered. MoH Scalability Cisco Unified Communications Manager supports 500 music-on-hold (MoH) audio sources. This support greatly benefits customers with many different locations who need unique MoH options for each location. For our partners, MoH scalability helps them compete more effectively for larger multisite deals Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. This document is Cisco Public Information. Page 2 of 5
3 Network Management Improvements Through improvements to Cisco Prime Collaboration, the system administrator s experience has been enhanced through reduced number of clicks and improved response times. A cluster view heat map now enables at-a-glance health assessment of individual clusters. There is an improved topology view organized per cluster. Support now is provided for monitoring Expressway core and edge devices. Under contact center enhancements, the system administrator can now monitor multiple contact center instances from a single pane of glass. Cisco Prime Provisioning has several enhancements (including one-step activation of top 20 system services, single-user and bulk-user move functions, and quick create sites with dial plans) reduce setup time and complexity for the administrator user. Key Capabilities Focused on Improving Conferencing Simplified On-Premises Conferencing with Single Deployment Model Resources for all conference types (ad hoc, rendezvous, and scheduled), are now managed through Cisco TelePresence Conductor. The result is a streamlined architecture, a single point of resource interface and management, better resource use, and improved administrator user experience. Increased Scalability Cisco TelePresence Server scale has generally improved: A minimum 25-percent increase in number of supported ports on virtual Cisco TelePresence System Around 20-percent scalability improvements for appliance-based Cisco TelePresence System New hardware support: Cisco Multiparty Media 400v (MM400v), which supports 28 ports (high-capacity option) Within the BE6000 and BE7000, Cisco TelePresence Server is now an option as a co-resident application. Cascading allows the addition of extra Cisco TelePresence Servers to support larger conferences; with CSR 10.6, two or more Cisco TelePresence Servers can be provisioned to support large video conferences. Cisco WebEx Meeting Server (on-premises WebEx) now scales to support larger conferences. The benefit is efficient use of resources and lower TCO by using what the customer has and enabling the ability to build upon that to scale up. New WebEx User Experience WebEx offers a simplified and intuitive meeting experience, reduced join time, improved audio dialog and buttons, and integrated content share, improving productivity and providing a delightful experience. Collaboration Meeting Rooms (CMRs) across Premises, Hybrid, and Cloud Deployments CMR is converged video and web conferencing, delivering a first-class user experience. Users can join from anywhere, from mobile devices to the boardroom, with true platform independence. CMR offers scalable deployment choices (premises, hybrid, or cloud) and superior scale support - up to 25 video endpoints and 500 video-enabled WebEx users in a single meeting. Improved Datashare Enhancements The WebEx application now determines the best way to display content based on the client and display application, helping ensure a better sharing and viewing experience. Mac Productivity Tool The Mac Productivity Tool allows you to schedule and start meetings quickly and simply through Microsoft Outlook Calendar for Mac, providing better and more efficient experience for Mac users Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. This document is Cisco Public Information. Page 3 of 5
4 Unified Participant List Now all Cisco TelePresence participants can be listed and viewed within a WebEx session. Single alias for Host and Guest for CMR Meetings, with Role Determined by Personal Identification Number (PIN) Every participant uses the same URL to join a meeting, but a separate PIN for hosts and guests, providing easy access but secure control. Compliance From on-premises WebEx (Cisco WebEx Meeting Server), there are advances in IPv6 support, JITC compliance, and SSO enhancements. For the list of compliant products, click here. Key Enhancements in Collaboration Endpoints and Clients Jabber Enhancements The Jabber platform offers a contemporary design user interface for Jabber Windows, Mac, ios, and Android that aligns all the Jabber applications with the rest of the Cisco Collaboration portfolio. Across the Jabber portfolio, Security Association Markup Language (SAML)-based Single Sign-On is supported with Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity Connection, and IM&P, meaning you can log in once for all instant messaging and voice and video services now through Cisco Expressway (Figure 2). Figure 2. Cisco Jabber Jabber Mobile Enhancements Support for telephony features (for example, Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST), Binary Floor Control Protocol (BFCP) share, statistics, and call park) brings Jabber Mobile into parity with Jabber Desktop. Jabber Mobile now also supports more Android devices. Jabber Guest Enhancements Now supported on additional clients (ios 8 and Mac OSX 10.10) and with improved deployment models, customer s endpoints registered to Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) can now receive calls from Jabber Guest Cisco and/or its affiliates. 5 Cisco TelePresence IX5000 Cisco TelePresence IX5000 is the state-of-the-art triple-screen system combining high-fidelity audio/video and rich collaboration functions for the most vivid immersive collaboration experience to date. Reduced componentry and installation time, lower power and bandwidth, and no room remediation mean much lower TCO and, thus, greater value for deployment beyond the boardroom, including executive and customer meetings and globally dispersed project team collaboration (Figure 3). Figure 3. Cisco TelePresence IX5000 Key Capabilities Focused on Improving Customer Collaboration Cisco Unified Contact Center Express Enhancements Cisco Unified Contact Center Express now supports integrated agent . This added channel allows you now to reach out to your company using as well as voice, web chat, and social media. Support for Nuance Recognizer 10.0 for Text to Speech and Automatic Speech Recognition delivers better accuracy and improved first-call resolution. Why Cisco? When you choose Cisco, you benefit from our expertise as a global leader in collaboration and cloud solutions. With Cisco s broad product portfolio and commitment to open standards solutions that work smoothly together, you can begin using Cisco Collaboration Systems Release with confidence.
