1 Data Sheet Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager Version 5.0 A comprehensive management suite for Cisco Unified Videoconferencing solutions. The Cisco Unified Videoconferencing product line an integral component of the Cisco Unified Communications system facilitates face-to-face discussions among video conference participants in different locations. The Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager provides the ability to easily schedule, scale, and control video conferences and to efficiently manage and monitor video conferencing network elements, providing an optimal visual communication experience and lower total cost of ownership. The Cisco Unified Communications family of voice, video, and IP communications products and applications helps enable organizations to communicate more effectively helping them streamline business processes, reach the right resource the first time, and reduce costs and maximize revenue. The Cisco Unified Communications system is an integral part of a complete, integrated business communications solution for organizations of all sizes that also includes network infrastructure, security, and network management products; wireless connectivity; a lifecycle services approach; and flexible deployment and outsourced management options, end-user and partner financing packages, and third-party communications applications. SIMPLE AND FLEXIBLE VIDEOCONFERENCING SCHEDULING AND CONTROL Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager helps organizations of all sizes improve communications by using their video conferencing resources more effectively. The application enables any user to easily schedule video conferences from a Web browser or a Microsoft Outlook calendar where they can view, check availability, and reserve video resources, such as multipoint control units (MCUs) and gateways. The application minimizes complexity and ensures optimal resource usage by automatically communicating with multiple MCU and gateway devices across multiple geographical locations to reserve the appropriate resources at the most efficient locations. Additional features such as custom meeting templates that identify bandwidth, layout, and terminal setting preferences; Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) integration, notifications, and automatic dial-out to video terminals help make the scheduling and attending experience flexible and efficient, thereby reducing the need for help desk support and the total cost of ownership. Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager also helps improve meeting effectiveness by providing powerful in-meeting controls, such as the ability to invite new users, mute and unmute participants, and change the meeting video layout for any video conference on the network from a single, centralized Web user interface. MORE SCALABLE AND EFFICIENT VIDEO CONFERENCING Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager reduces the hurdles to deploying video conferencing to large or geographically dispersed environments. Video conferencing devices are registered with Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager, which then combines the device information, network topology, and bandwidth information to help simplify user and administrator interactions and make intelligent resource allocation decisions. For example, large conferences can be conducted on multiple MCUs simultaneously, which automatically cascade as needed and in a manner that best uses resources and meets the needs of the conference. Users are always able to dial a single number to attend conferences, regardless of which MCU is being used, and meeting control functions for the entire video conferencing network can be accessed from a single interface. 2 SINGLE INTERFACE FOR VIDEO MONITORING AND MANAGEMENT Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager provides a single, centralized Web interface where all video conferencing infrastructure and endpoint devices can be viewed, browsed, managed, and accessed directly. Devices that can be managed include the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing MCUs and gateways as well as the Cisco IOS Gatekeeper. The network manager component of the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager also makes managing large numbers of endpoints more efficient by providing direct access to the administrative interface of any endpoint in the network. The network management component also provides centralized and flexible call detail records (CDRs), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) notifications, trap forwarding with customizable severity levels, and a centralized log of all solutionwide events and errors. By simplifying and consolidating administrative access and control, the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager helps improve availability and lower total cost of ownership of video conferencing deployments. UNIFIED COMMUNICATIONS INTEROPERABILITY AND INVESTMENT PROTECTION The Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager and the rest of the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing product family is designed to protect customers investments by enabling multiple video conferencing usage models. Traditional IP video conferencing The Cisco Unified Videoconferencing product line offers flexibility, scalability, and performance for traditional room-based video conferencing deployments and desktop video conferencing with a wide variety of supported video endpoints, including H.320, H.323, Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP), and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) devices. The Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager enhances the scalability, user capabilities, and administrative features of traditional video conferencing deployments to provide a market-leading end-to-end video conferencing solution. Cisco Unified CallManager Video Telephony Cisco Unified CallManager includes integrated video telephony functions so organizations can extend video communications to the desktop, making remote visual communications both more cost-effective and easier to use. Video calling is available from videoenabled products, such as Cisco Unified Video Advantage, the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7985G, Cisco Unified Personal Communicator, and third-party video offerings that support SCCP. Video is now as easy as a telephone call (Figure 1) and has familiar phone features and integrated dial plans. The Cisco Unified Videoconferencing infrastructure products provide multiparty impromptu conferences for Cisco video telephony environments. Initiating a video conference is as easy as pressing the conference button on a Cisco Unified IP phone or Cisco Unified Personal Communicator. Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager supports large-scale video telephony deployments by helping provide scalable, integrated multiparty video conferencing and automatic dialout capabilities. The Cisco Unified Videoconferencing Manager can be used in both traditional room-based video conferencing and desktop video telephony environments simultaneously, maximizing investment. Figure 1.
