3 Question 5 - JIT (5 marks) Du har fått ett uppdrag av produktionschefen på ditt företag Gadget AB att undersöka hur företaget kan implementera JIT (just in time). Produkterna är elektronik som säljs till detaljhandeln. Sortimentet är relativt stort, men högvolymprodukterna är moduluppbyggda. Man har länge arbetat aktivt med att få ner antalet komponenter i produkterna. Produktionen är kundorderstyrd och variationen i efterfrågan ganska hög man kan även identifiera viss säsongsvariation. Man jobbar med single sourcing och har begränsat antalet leverantörer. Företaget har sedan länge ett MRP-system som bedöms fungera bra. Hur kan företaget implementera JIT, beskriv minst tre tekniker som kan tillämpas? Vilka JIT tekniker passar och varför? You have a new assignment from the production manager at Gadget AB to investigate how the company can implement JIT (just in time). The products are electronics sold to retailers. The product range is quite extensive, but the high volume products are modularized. Gadget AB is producing to order and the variation in the demand is relatively high, including seasonality. The company is working with single sourcing and has reduced the number of suppliers. The company is using a MRP system, which is working well. How can Gadget AB implement JIT, describe at least three different techniques? What JIT techniques can be applied and why? 3

4 Question 6 (5 marks) The company Customer First AB are using a make to order strategy and product A is their main product. The forecast for product A, the accepted customer orders and the master production schedule is shown below. The company presently has 60 units on hand and a fixed master production schedule quantity of 50 units is used. The company is using a demand time fence of 3 weeks and a planning time fence of 7 weeks. Fill in the available and available to promise, etc. b) The following customer orders arrive to the sales department and they ask you to decide which of the customer orders that can be accepted. Treat the customer orders one by one in the order they arrive, starting with order no 1 and continue with order no 2 and so on. Splitting the orders is not allowed and no backlog should be created. If you accept one order take that in consideration when handling the next order. State clearly which of the below orders can be accepted and motivate your answer with the record created in question a. 1. A new customer order of 10 units in week 2 2.
