1 6060 Spine Road Boulder, CO USA USA Europe Worldwide Introduction Replacing the Gas Manifold in All Sievers InnovOx TOC Analyzers Purpose: Scope: Safety: To upgrade the Gas Manifold in all Sievers InnovOx TOC Analyzers. This procedure describes how to remove and replace the Gas Manifold in all Sievers InnovOx TOC Analyzers. Personnel skilled in the maintenance of electromechanical instruments should perform this procedure. This procedure requires that one have access to the inside of the Analyzer case. To avoid potentially dangerous shock, be sure to power off the Analyzer as described in the procedure. Materials New Gas Manifold Kit Phillips-head (crosshead) screwdriver 7 / 64 Allen wrench Procedures A. Removing the Existing Gas Manifold. B. Installing the New Gas Manifold. A. Removing the Existing Gas Manifold. 11. If the Analyzer is taking measurements, press the Stop Analysis button. 12. Insert a USB flash memory drive into the port labeled USB on the side of the Analyzer and back up the current Analyzer settings (Maintenance Advanced USB I/O Save System). Note: For more information, see the section called Saving System Settings in the Analyzer s Operation and Maintenance Manual. 13. Remove the USB flash memory drive from the USB port and store it in a safe place. 14. Empty the reagent syringes (Maintenance Advanced Empty Syringes). Note: Make sure to also back up the Data History and Cal Error. Be aware that backing up the data GE Analytical Instruments, Inc. 2011J Page 1 of 8 DIN Rev. A

2 history can take up to 15 minutes. 15. Shutdown the Analyzer and then turn off power using the power switch and unplug the power cable. Maintenance Shutdown 16. Disable the flow of the sample to the Analyzer. 17. For the Lab model, open the Analyzer by unscrewing the four thumbscrews located on the back of the unit (pictured). 18. For the On-Line model, un-fasten the latches on the left side of the door (not pictured). 19. For the Lab model, remove the fluidics side cover from the Analyzer (pictured) by rotating and then sliding it back. 20. For the On-Line model, open the door. 3 1. Remove the screw on the top of the electronics cover. 2. Rotate the electronics side cover off of the Analyzer and then slide it back to remove it. 13. Attach an ESD grounding strap to your arm, and place the other end on one of the Analyzer s metal surfaces. This precaution is especially important before connecting or disconnecting the J2 wire of the Proportional Valve. GE Analytical Instruments, Inc. 2011J Page 3 of 8 DIN Rev. A

4 14. Locate the Gas Manifold in the fluidics compartment of the Lab or On-Line Analyzer. 15. Release the J2 connection on the electronic side of the Analyzer. This wire runs through to the other side and is attached to the Proportional Valve on the Gas Manifold. 16. Disconnect the tubes that run to the Gas Manifold. NOTE: Make note of which tube attaches to which fitting 17. Loosen the Proportional Valve with the Allen wrench. GE Analytical Instruments, Inc. 2011J Page 4 of 8 DIN Rev. A

5 18. Remove the Proportional Valve from the Gas Manifold by rotating counter-clockwise. 19. Using the Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws that hold the Gas Manifold in place 20. Remove the existing Gas Manifold. GE Analytical Instruments, Inc. 2011J Page 5 of 8 DIN Rev. A

6 B. Installing the New Gas Manifold. 1. Remove the new Gas Manifold from its packaging. The kit contains the Manifold and two new screws. 2. Using the Phillips screwdriver, attach the two screws to fasten the new Gas Manifold to the Analyzer. 3. Attach the Proportional Valve to the Gas Manifold by rotating clockwise. 7 4. Tighten the Proportional Valve with the Allen wrench. 5. Connect all tubing to the Gas Manifold. 6. Be sure to have ESD strap on and grounded properly before connecting cable. 7. Feed the J2 wire from the Proportional Valve to the electronics side of the Analyzer and reconnect. GE Analytical Instruments, Inc. 2011J Page 7 of 8 DIN Rev. A

8 8. For the Lab model, place the fluidics cover back on the Analyzer (pictured). 9. For the On-Line model, close the door. 10. For the Lab model, fasten the two thumbscrews on the back of the unit (pictured). 11. For the On-Line model, fasten the latches on the left side of the door 12. Turn on power to the Analyzer. 13. Re-establish the flow of water to the Analyzer. 14. Restore system operation, and make sure that Analyzer is functioning correctly. 15. Dispose of removed materials according to local regulations.
