8 BA Computer Animation Arts Computer Animation is one of the most rapidly expanding areas of creative endeavour and technical development. It is an exciting, fast-changing and rewarding area to be involved with. Both the technology and the creative application of this technology have reached such a level of maturity and sophistication that we begin to see a number of quite distinct and specialised application areas emerging which graduates of this course can enter. Such areas are 3D computer animation production, 2D and 3D digital special effects, and computer games. Career opportunities September 2015/16 There are a range of careers available to graduates in animation, effects and games, but they are especially suited to roles such as director, environment artist, concept artist, character animator or compositior In particular, the last decade has seen a truly amazing growth in computer animation and its applications. This is manifested in the production of fully synthetic feature films such as Shrek, photorealistic digital special effects such as Star Wars and The Matrix, and a wide range of computer games

9 BA Computer Visualisation & Animation September 2015/16 This course is one of the most established computer animation courses in the UK and was developed after extensive consultation with many of the leading companies in the computer animation, digital special effects and computer game sectors The course has a focus on the creative use of computer graphics and animation technology The course content combines elements of traditional art disciplines, such as life drawing and cinematography, with elements taken from the computing and engineering disciplines, such as programming and applied maths Career Opportunities Graduates of this course have been able to pursue careers in the field of film special effects, computer game design, animation production, graphics software implementation, multimedia, scientific visualisation and many other related fields. Students divide their time equally among computing and moving image studies

10 BSc Software Development for Animation Games and Effects Building on a solid base of mathematics and computer science theory, you will apply software development techniques to a range of topics, such as modelling, rendering and natural phenomena simulation. Our course is distinct from other Computer Science programs in that you will be immersed in the production process, experiencing cross-disciplinary collaborations with artists and technical directors. This production experience will not only help you develop the techniques and skills needed to excel in your discipline, but will also teach you to better appreciate and work effectively with other aspects of the production pipeline, for example artists, designers, producers and directors Career opportunities September 2015/16 On this computer animation degree you will learn software and application design, with the aim that you will go onto to work as Research and Development Technical Director, Games Engineer programmer or Application Software Designer within the animation or gaming industry
