DAY 1 29th September PRESIDIUM MEMBERS MEETING GREEN CITY MEETING AND CONFERENCE WELCOME DINER In the morning starts the ELCA Presidium members meeting at the Hotel Mercure Budapest Buda****. After the lunch starts the Green city meeting and conference. In the evening guests take part on not only a welcome dinner but also ex-director Dr Hermann Kurth will be greeted.

2 DAY 2 30th September ALLDAY EXCURSION In de morning the bus takes the group from the hotel to the sites of the excursion and helps the moving between the sites and restaurants during all day. Planners and other professionals guide the excursions and explain the technical details and answer the questions. MARGITSZIGET Margaret Island is a 2.5 km long island, 500 meters wide in the middle of the Danube in central Budapest. The island is mostly covered by landscape parks, and is a popular recreational area. Its medieval ruins are reminders of its importance in the Middle Ages as a religious centre. The island houses various sports establishments, like the Palatinus water park (the largest open-air swimming complex in Budapest), the Alfréd Hajós sports pool, a tennis stadium and an athletics centre. The island has a rubber-coated running track measuring 5.35 kilometres, and is popular among both locals and tourists because of its quality and easy access.

3 DAY 2 30th September We will enjoy a lunch at the famous Restaurant Gundel. After that professionals presents the technical details about the realization of the courtyard. GUNDEL RESTAURANT COURTYARD GREEN CITY PROJECT Gundel restaurant is a famous, traditional Hungarian restaurant in Budapest s heart. It has renewed according to the principles of Green city and it has become sustainable and green. Instead of the original 2% of rainwater 98% of water is recycled and let to the soil. The water of pool and fountains is cleaned only biological. Thanked to the plantings the biodiversity of the garden has increased. The lights are LED light which is an energy saving technology. More of the existing pavements have been reused such as the limestone and the concrete blocks. After removing a dangerous tree, its wood has been rebuilt at site. As well 100% of scrap was recycled.

4 DAY 2 30th September GREENHOUSE OFFICE COURTYARD During the afternoon the bus will take the guests to Greenhouse Office to visit the courtyard and meet the planners and professionals. Completed in December 2012, Green House is the greenest commercial development project on the Hungarian office market, and the first one to certify for LEED Platinum with a top score. Tenants of Green House benefit from an ideal combination of sustainability, creativity, work efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the building. Cutting-edge environmental solutions and green technologies are applied in each and every development phase to minimize the building s environmental footprint, and reduce its energy use and carbon dioxide emissions. In the interior garden above the pool is a huge hanging chair. At the top, on the seventh floor of the building is the engineering of the office surrounded by extensive green roof terraces. The vegetation: drought-resistant and maintenance-free plants. After the excursion guests have two hours of free time and we have a dinner together at the restaurant.

5 DAY 3 1th October ALLDAY EXCURSION In the morning the bus will take the group to Kossuth square. Planners are going to present the open space. As cultural program the guests visit the Hungarian Parliament. KOSSUTH SQUARE The reconstruction of the square between 2012 and 2014 has resulted in the modernization of an area of nearly seven and a half hectares as well as providing new functions for it. The entire surface of the square has been modernized in a process that has seen the disappearance of the asphalt blacktop and its replacement with natural stone and a uniform style of street furnishings. The square has essentially become a no-traffic zone, and pedestrians and cyclists can now enjoy a space twice as big as before. The tracks for tram no. 2 here have also been completely upgraded. A rational and sustainable park structure has been developed on the square.

6 DAY 3 1th October The bus take the group to Teleky square, where planners and other professionals guide the excursions and explain the technical details and answer the questions. After the visit the group has a lunch together. TELEKI SQUARE Teleki Square is one of Budapest s urban centre s oldest and storied squares, located in one of the city s most profoundly disadvantaged neighbourhood. The aim of the inclusive community-based planning process was to help residents living nearby to take part in developing the design of their own Community Park in the place of a barren, ill-reputed, crime-ridden and functionless space. The series of workshops spanning 10 weeks were open for anyone interested to join. Posters with the question What Should Teleki Square Look Like? were placed around the neighbourhood. Local residents taking part in the design process to be able to continue to contribute to the square s management and ongoing improvement once the renovation is completed in spring 2014.

7 DAY 3 1th October PRIVATE GARDEN On the third day of the excursion the group visit a private garden in Budapest. This program is being organized. We let you know the details later.

8 DAY 4 2th October OPTIONAL SIGHTSEEING HIGHLIGHTS OF BUDAPEST The last day an optional sightseeing tour is offered to the guests, where the most famous attractions of Budapest can be seen.
