3 LINES ACCREDITATION. The Organizing Committee s intention is to allow all members of the media to enjoy the best working conditions, and the accreditation system and timetable are an important part. An accreditation grants access to areas in the stadium that are relevant to the media. When inside the stadium, the member of the media must always carry a passport or identity card, and the accreditation must be visible at all times. Every accreditation for the CAF AFRICAN BEACH SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP remains a property of the Organizing Committee and can be withdrawn at any time. PHOTOGRAPHERS ZONING. Only members of the media, who are accredited as photographers and are wearing the provided coloured bib, are granted access to a determined set of zones inside the stadium (marked with ). TV CAMERA VIP MEDIA Photographers and cameramen are not entitled to take pictures from any of the stands, other than the Media Seats. Photographers/cameramen who necessarily need to work in the VIP tribune (i.e. partners photographers) have to be wearing a different accreditation (VIP, All access...) and a different bib. MEDIA TRIBUNE. Press/Media accredited persons may watch CAF AFRICAN BEACH SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP - matches from the media tribune. Let us remind you that carriers of press accreditation are not allowed into the photographer zones. MIXED ZONE. After each match, and on request, the BSWW media officer in charge will accompany players and coaches of both teams to the mixed zone. Access to this area is restricted to Press/Media accreditation carriers. No interviews can be held inside the pitch, especially between matches. 3

4 BEACH SOCCER: THE SPORT Two decades of history... Beach Soccer is a beautiful combination of football, a party, amazing scenery, and exciting action. A smaller field and unlimited substitutions when mixed with the unpredictable nature of the sand itself creates an exquisite form of play that energizes spectators and players alike. Goals, goals, and goals. The unique acrobatic goals are unlike any other sport, add to that the music and fun atmosphere and you have the most popular sport on sand. In a sport born on the magnificent sand of Copacabana beach, the only result could be an explosion of excitement that rivals the beauty of the Brazilian beaches. Three fast-paced 12 minute periods lend themselves to action galore, and overtime along with penalty shoot-outs always determine a winner. Never a tie. Creativity is a must for this highlight filled game that glorifies individual feats and demands perfect teamwork. The game has been modeled to accommodate the fans, evidenced by crowds of people standing in lines before sunrise just to get a glimpse of a championship match. The exponential growth of the sport has lent itself to the biggest businesses wanting a part of the worldwide advertising, in an extremely short amount of time. Despite all that, no sport or other kind of expression would have any future if it did not raise a great media interest. And Beach Soccer is a mediafriendly sport as no other. Its competition format is absolutely suitable for TV, with a match structure that perfectly fits a one-hour broadcasting cluster, with three breaks, warranting a concentrated, easy-to-take and easy-to-understand dose of action. Today, beach soccer action reaches more than 250 million households globally. Aimed at inclusion, fair play, and vivacity, the rules were set forth by Beach Soccer Worldwide and its partners, including FIFA, to bring the game to the entire world, to all six FIFA Confederation zones. That is just the beginning for a sport that encourages and sees play in over 130 countries from men, women, and children. BECOMING PART OF FIFA What began with Octagon Koch Tavares gaining interest from the immediate success of the World Championships has now morphed into the most popular game on the beach to include national leagues all across the globe, as well as prestigious international events as the European Beach Soccer League or the Intercontinental Cup, in addition to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, held every two years. 4

5 In May 2005, the first-ever FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup was staged on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. To everyone's surprise, France defeated Portugal in the final, while heavy favourites and hosts Brazil fell in the semis, in what still stands as one of the biggest upsets that they have ever suffered. From that moment on, five more FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups have backboned the evolution of the sport. After the first three editions (2005, 2006 and 2007) showcased at the sport's birthplace, Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup started journeying across the world. Marseille in 2008, Dubai in 2009, Ravenna (Italy) in 2011 and Tahiti in 2013 have hosted the biggest Beach Soccer festival, which is now held bianually due to the exponential growth of the teams involved in each different continental qualifier. Becoming a FIFA member gave Beach Soccer the expected support to jump onto the World s Sport Olympus, and since that first step on the Copacabana Beach in 1992, Beach Soccer has grown steadily and it has already reached its maturity, taking a prominent place in the worldwide sports panorama. MORE THAN JUST A GAME No other sport is as marketing friendly or popular with the media, due to its simplicity, acclaim, and all of that leads to limitless television commercial opportunities. Football Federations, the press, fans, and athletes have all latched onto this sport of finesse, power, and energy. The party style events, showcasing celebrities and professional athletes from other sports, and growing interest from avid fans and casual viewers alike means that Beach Soccer will not be slowing down at all. BEACH SOCCER RULES HIGHLIGHTS 4 player + goalkeeper per side. 3 referees plus a timekeeper. 3 periods of 12 minutes. Extra time and penalty-kick-shootout if tie remains. Unlimited player substitution. All free kicks are direct, and the player who receives the foul must take it, unless s/he is injured. pitch sizes: 35-37m x 26-28m Penalty area 9 meters wide (delimited by yellow flags). Red flag points the halfway line. Red card means player is sent off, and the substitute team-mate cannot enter before a lapse of 2 minutes (unless a goal is scored in the meantime). Average of 9 goals per game! Average of one shot on goal every 30 seconds! 5

7 CAF AFRICAN BEACH SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP Beach soccer is booming in Africa and the next two months will continue that trend. The CAF Beach Soccer Championships Seychelles 2015 (FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup CAF Qualifier Seychelles) will be the biggest event going into the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal The Qualifier will start on the 14 th of April and finish on the 19 th, with the top two teams going to the World Cup. Eight teams will be participating in the Qualifier and they will only be the very best of Africa, as the teams are all currently competing for the final places. The final stage for the pre-qualification stage, home and away, starts on the 16 th of March and finishes with the second leg being held on the 23 rd of March. Excitement is an understatement for the looming World Cup Qualifier, as Seychelles has recently organized their beach soccer program, participated in their first high-quality international event, and will be hosting this very important and prestigious event, another first for the African island. The country is more than ready for the challenge and pressures as they have grown up informally playing beach soccer and basking in the forever sunny paradise. The other seven participating teams to take on the hosts will be finalized on the 25 th of March. Nigeria is the only other team that has earned their place in the Qualifier, as they have already marched through their opponents. The entire continent has been buzzing since the Power Horse Beach Soccer African Trophy Durban 2015, in which Senegal, by no means an underdog, charged through the competition to take home first place. The top teams in Africa participated in Durban, eight to be in fact, and some of the familiar faces, along with some surprises, will again be present in Seychelles for the Qualifier. The African Trophy came three months after a spectacular closing to the 2014 season, with the BSWW Tour Copa Lagos 2014, where the Ivory Coast upset the hosts and favourites, Nigeria, to finish the year strong. That tournament saw four excellent sides do battle from December 12 th -14 th. Seychelles looked impressive in their debut at the African Trophy and being an ideal setting for beach soccer in general, let alone a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier, makes the fervor surrounding this tournament even greater. As only the winner and runner-up at the Qualifier will book tickets to Portugal for the 9 th -19 th of July, you will not want to miss any of the action, follow at beachsoccer.com.
