3 Welcome to Media Shuttle Media Shuttle combines the simplicity of online file sharing with the power of accelerated file transfer and centralized, enterprise- class management to balance the needs of end users, operations and IT. By maintaining the file cache within the secure control of your network, Media Shuttle s patent- pending cloud architecture ensures the security of high- value digital assets, and gives IT the power to determine where content is stored and how network and server resources are allocated for maximum efficiency. Some of the uses of Media Shuttle include: Accelerated delivery of large media files without file size limits. Content storage on the corporate network for added security. Content tracking and reporting. Ad hoc file sharing for project teams. Accelerated movement of television content, theatrical productions, sporting or news event footage. Distribution of proxies, scripts, schedules and images. Sharing media for marketing and advertising campaign development and approval. File movement related to creative collaboration, such as editing or foreign market localization. Getting Started with Media Shuttle on AWS Marketplace This procedure assumes you ve clicked either Launch 1- Click or Launch with EC2 Console from within the AWS Marketplace. If you have not done this, visit the awsmarketplace and start the installation process. 1. In the EC2 Management Console, select your Media Shuttle instance. 2. From the Actions drop- down menu select Get Windows Password and follow the screen prompts. Your Windows password takes minutes to activate. 4 3. You need to set up remote access to your Media Shuttle instance. To do this, in the Retrieve Default Windows Administrator Password window, copy the Public DNS, User name, and Password information and paste it into a text file on your local machine. 4. Open your Remote Desktop Client (sometimes referred to as RDP) and connect to your Media Shuttle instance using the Public DNS from step In the Remote Desktop Client click Use Another Account and in the User Name field type localhost\administrator and in the Password field, paste your Windows Password (see the text file from step 3). 5 6. From the Start menu choose Programs - > Signiant Media Shuttle - > Configure Media Shuttle. It can take between 5-10 minutes for this option to display in your Start menu. 7. To start using Media Shuttle, you need an Activation Key, on the Activate screen click the Click Here link below Activation Key. Follow the screen prompts. 6 Using Media Shuttle To get started with Media Shuttle do this: 1. Create your portal. 2. Customize your portal (only for purchased Media Shuttle instances). 3. Add members. 4. Start transferring files. For additional documentation and support, please refer to the Media Shuttle online help and the following websites: support.mediashuttle.com getsatisfaction.com/signiant status.mediashuttle.com Note: a default folder has been created for your Media Shuttle repository. This is where Media Shuttle writes the content being uploaded to the system. The repository by default is located on the D drive in a folder called Repository. This folder has 500GB of space for your Media Shuttle instance. To stay up- to- date with latest Media Shuttle news, follow us Additional Recommendations The following recommendations ensure your Media Shuttle instance is secure and easier- to- manage. 1. When your Media Shuttle instance is created, by default it does not have a name in the instance listing. In the EC2 Management Console, select your Media Shuttle instance and type a Name in the name column. 2. To ensure that the Remote Desktop Protocol is configured securely, we recommend you create a new RDP Rule. This allows administration of the instance only from your local machine or network and prevents unwanted login attempts from the Internet. 1. In the EC2 Management Console, expand Network & Security and select Security Groups. 2. Find the security group assigned to your instance. If you did the quick launch, it will be for example, Media Shuttle 1-1- AutogenByAWSMP. 3. Select the security group and in the lower pane, select the Inbound tab. Find the 3389 (RDP) rule and click Delete. Media Shuttle Getting Started Guide for AWS Marketplace Version 1.0 5

7 4. From the Create A New Rule drop- down menu, select RDP. 5. In Source, type the IP Address for your network or local machine (if this is a single IP Address append /32). If you don t know your IP Address, open a web browser and in Google type What is my IP Address?. 6. Click Add Rule and then click Apply Rule Changes. Your Media Shuttle instance is now configured and secure - you re ready to setup your first portal. Media Shuttle Getting Started Guide for AWS Marketplace Version 1.0 6

8 Adding Storage Space The default storage repository is located on the D drive in a folder called Repository and has 500GB of space for your Media Shuttle instance. If you need more than 500GB of storage, do the following: 1. In the EC2 Console, find the region in which your Media Shuttle server is running. 2. In the left menu, select Volumes - > Create Volume. Ensure the Availability Zone matches the region in which your Media Shuttle server is running (step 1). Click Yes, Create. 3. In the Volumes list, find your new Volume and in the lower pane click Tags. Edit the Name Tag. 4. From the Actions drop- down menu, select Attach Volume. 9 5. In the Attach Volume window, select your Media Shuttle instance in the Instances drop- down list. Click Yes, Attach. 6. Connect with Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) to your running Media Shuttle server. 7. From the Start menu select Server Manager. 8. In the left menu, expand Storage and select Disk Management. You are prompted to initialize a new disk. Select GPT (GUID Partition Table) and click OK. 9. To extend the volume, right- click Disk 1 and choose Extend Volume. 10. In the Extend Volume Wizard, select your new disk, click Next and then click Finish. When prompted, click Yes to convert dynamic disks. 11.
